Position Overview:
Dock to Dish is seeking an experienced and driven Director of Operations to lead and oversee all aspects of our regional fish distribution operations. This critical role will be responsible for managing the entire product life cycle, from receiving seafood from boats and fishermen to ensuring quality control and customer satisfaction through delivery to our customers. The Director of Operations will play a key role in maintaining our high standards while optimizing processes for efficiency and effectiveness.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee daily operations related to the receiving of products from fishermen and boats, ensuring all incoming products meet quality and sustainability standards.
Manage the packout process to prepare seafood for shipment from the docks to the distribution facility.
Supervise the repackaging process at the distribution facility, ensuring all products are properly prepared for delivery to customers or wholesalers.
Team Leadership:
Lead, manage, and develop a team of packout assistants, delivery drivers, and other operations personnel to ensure smooth operations.
Provide leadership, training, and performance evaluations to enhance team productivity and morale.
Process Optimization & Quality Control:
Implement and maintain quality control measures throughout the product life cycle, from receipt at the docks to customer delivery.
Continuously review and improve operational processes to ensure efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and compliance with industry regulations.
Collaborate with other departments (sales, customer service) to address operational challenges and meet customer expectations.
Logistics & Distribution Management:
Ensure timely and accurate deliveries of seafood to restaurants, wholesale customers, and drop shipments to other regions in the US. Optimize the logistics and transportation of products from docks to the distribution facility and beyond to final destinations.
Oversee fleet management for delivery vehicles, including maintenance, scheduling, and route planning to ensure efficient deliveries.
Customer Satisfaction:
Work closely with sales and customer service teams to ensure customer satisfaction by meeting delivery timelines, maintaining product quality, and addressing any customer concerns promptly.
Foster relationships with restaurant and wholesale customers to ensure long-term partnerships and business growth.
Qualifications:
7-10 years of experience in operations management, preferably within the seafood or food distribution industry.
Proven experience leading and managing teams in a fast-paced, high-volume distribution environment.
Strong knowledge of logistics, supply chain management, and quality control processes.
Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Ability to analyze and optimize operational processes for efficiency and quality.
Knowledge of seafood industry regulations and sustainability practices is a plus.
