Job description
Position Summary
The Ranch Manager oversees operations and activities on the property with the goal of nurturing the built and natural environments therein. Attention to detail, responsiveness to owners and neighbors and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously will lead to success in this position. Applicants with medium to long-term commitment to the role are preferred.
Roles and Responsibilities
Partnerships & Relationships
Interface and coordinate with conservation partner organizations including:
Trout Unlimited
US Fish & Wildlife Service
Oregon Fish & Wildlife
USGS
Maintain good standing with neighbors and Fort Klamath community
Property Management
Organize and oversee restoration projects
forest management
riparian corridor enhancement
hedgerow planning and installation
Setup procedures and day-to-day operations that nurture the landscape
composting operation
wood chipping operation
fencing & gate maintenance and repair (wildlife friendly fencing)
Tend to the built environment, with an eye to the natural environment
routine maintenance and upkeep of main house, garage, wood shed and outbuildings
drywall, woodwork, plumbing and electrical to skill level; assist in supervising outside contractors when needed
interior & exterior painting
Equipment maintenance
routine maintenance and upkeep of tractor, snow blower, chainsaws, wood chipper and similar equipment
Desired Qualifications
Demonstrated experience working in land, pasture and ecological management
Demonstrated experience working with livestock and regenerative grazing systems
Demonstrated experience maintaining buildings, troubleshooting problems and coordinating subcontractors
Experience communicating compassionately with diverse audiences
Demonstrated experience working with diverse teams
Strong written and verbal communication skills
A passion for learning from others and through research and experience
Solution finder; glass half full attitude
Attention to detail; patient & open minded
Compensation
This is a salaried full time position ranging from $55,000 to $65,000 depending on experience. The position also includes:
Onsite housing and utilities in a three bedroom, two-and-a-half bath, 2000 sq ft house with detached garage and woodshed
Cell phone reimbursement
Simple IRA - 3% employer match
75% match to employee acquired health insurance
11 paid holidays
6 personal days
Paid Time Off by accrual basis:
0 to 4 years: 3 weeks per year (120 hours, 10 hours per month)
4 or more years: 5 weeks per year (200 hours, 16.6 hours per month)
