Company description
Sunhouse Farm is a small, diverse operation in Snow Camp, NC, growing vegetables on ¾ acre using organic and no-till practices. About a third of the farm consists of unheated high tunnels. My focus is producing the highest quality vegetables while maximizing efficiency without compromising on standards.
I’m Nik Vaughn, and I started Sunhouse Farm in the summer of 2021, just five days after graduating from Appalachian State with a degree in Agroecology. Farming is my passion, and I take great pride in the work I do.
We grow over 30 crops, with seasonal focuses:
Spring: Carrots, salad mix, and leafy greens like kale and collards.
Summer: Tomatoes, squash, cucumbers, and peppers.
Fall: A return to spring crops.
Produce is sold primarily at a Saturday farmers' market, through a 35-member CSA, and to a few wholesale accounts.
This is my fourth year of production, and each year I refine operations to improve efficiency. Sunhouse Farm operates on leased land shared with two other farms: Dinner Bell Farm, which owns the property and grows vegetables, and Rodwell Roots, a flower farm. We collaborate and share tools, as well as facilities like the wash/pack area, shop, and walk-in cooler.
