Company description
The Meat Hook is a whole-animal butcher shop that specializes in pasture-raised and regeneratively raised meats. That means agriculture that focuses on soil health through raising 100% grass-fed and grass-finished beef, fully pastured heritage pigs, lamb, and poultry.
Job description
Overview & Purpose
Butchers are responsible for processing and merchandising whole animals including beef, pork, lamb, and poultry. Under the guidance of our Head Butcher, they work to fabricate these animals into retail cuts and value-added products.
Working at The Meat Hook is so much more than breaking down a pig or tying fancy roasts. The best whole animal butchers are those who are just as dedicated to the less-than-glamorous tasks --such as inventory management-- because they know that without that critical consideration, the whole animal model is not sustainable.
Butchers interact directly with customers to provide engaging service and offer purchasing guidance. They represent the ethos of the company by contributing to an inclusive and informed shopping experience.
We source some of the best produce and grocery around. Butchers spend a portion of their week working in front of the counter to maintain a stocked and attractive retail floor.
Butchers are expected to maintain a clean and food-safe working environment. This includes daily cleaning tasks and adherence to established SOPs and HACCP monitoring procedures.
