Job description
As Head Chef, you will lead our supportive and committed kitchen staff through the production of our scratch-made menu each week. From ordering and inventory to tasting and training, you will be at the helm of a unique and well-run system that differs from typical restaurant work. Unlike a restaurant, we work normal daytime hours, take holidays off, and maintain a supportive, positive and well-paced work environment.

We have grown a large and loyal customer base since we started in 2012. And our goal is to bring the same consistency, quality and delight to a broader range of customers, becoming a trusted household name for high quality meal delivery in the Denver area. We’re also exploring how our strong and established brand can grow beyond the local level. As the Head Chef you will help us reach these goals!
Day to day details:
The head chef is a full-time, salaried position working 32 hours a week, the typical schedule is as follows:
Tuesday: Remote half-day
Wednesday: 8 AM - 3 PM
Thursday & Friday: 8 AM - 5 PM
Saturday: 7 AM - 2 PM
As Head Chef you will be responsible for the full production workflow from Tuesday through Saturday, ensuring high-quality standards and seamless kitchen operations throughout the week.
Compensation and benefits:
Salary: $70,000
Paid Time Off: Four weeks paid vacation (weeks of Fourth of July, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years)

This head chef role is uniquely inspiring and differs from a typical restaurant head chef position in terms of schedule, volume and work environment. Our diverse, weekly-changing menu is made nearly all from scratch. We are the only high-volume meal delivery service in Colorado that does this! As such, we’ve developed a lot of systems to keep everything running smoothly as we continue to grow and make our food even better. The head chef is integral to this identity and process, and will help to chart our future.
Core responsibilities:
- Ordering Tuesday, Thursday
- Creating prep list
- Reviewing and updating recipes
- Managing Inventory
- Working on the floor Thursday, Friday, Saturday AM
- Actively cooking
- Tasting, responsible for all final items
- Ensuring all food meets quality standards
- Assigning tasks for efficient operation of kitchen
- Overseeing projects
- Giving direction/correction
- Working within existing systems, while looking for ways to adjust and improve them
- Maintaining kitchen cleanliness, upkeep, organization
- Reporting maintenance or repair issues to owner
Essential skills:
- Lead by example
- Communicate with kitchen staff and office manager with clarity and respect
- Set a positive tone in the kitchen
- Solve problems and see several steps ahead to anticipate potential problems
- Create a good environment for staff including coaching and feedback
- Ensure staff are being treated fairly and with respect
- Train staff on standards, techniques and equipment throughout their tenure
- Assist in building and following systems and standards
- Hold others accountable
- Attract and retain staff
- Maintain a cooperative relationship with team members including kitchen staff, office manager and ownership
- Serve as a replacement in team members' absence
Required experience:
- Proficient in Google Sheets
- Five years head chef/management experience with catering and/or high volume experience a plus
- Strong organization skills
- Able to manage, lead and hold a team of 15 employees accountable and to set and hold standards
- Mature leadership qualities
