Job description
The Curd Nerd is seeking an enthusiastic and organized Shop Manager to oversee daily operations, staff management, and customer engagement at our specialty cheese shop. As a Shop Manager, you will play a key role in maintaining our reputation for excellent customer service and our passion for artisanal cheese. You will manage the shop, lead and educate a team, organize events, and help grow our business.
Key Responsibilities
Shop Duties:
Assist customers with cheese case and shop products.
Maintain and restock inventory.
Perform daily cleaning and maintain cleaning logs.
Open and close the shop for service.
Receive inventory and ensure proper restocking procedures.
Staff Management:
Train and onboard new employees.
Oversee employee tasking and knowledge updates.
Develop staff schedules and daily task lists.
Create and present employee assessments for underperformance.
Facilitate open dialogue and provide feedback during regular check-ins with employees.
Educational Responsibilities:
Host and teach educational events and classes.
Develop PowerPoint presentations and educational materials.
Administrative and Computer Tasks:
Update product descriptions for inventory.
Maintain accurate inventory records.
Write blog posts for the website, focusing on cheese highlights, pairings, and related topics.
Conduct cheese sensory evaluations.
Participate in training sessions and pursue additional education in the field.
Additional Duties:
Perform any other tasks needed to support the role of Shop Manager as the business grows.
Working Hours
Shop shifts: 5 days a week (typically Wednesday–Saturday).
Additional hours for administrative and educational tasks.
Irregular hours for events and staff meetings.
Compensation and Benefits
Annual Salary: $40,000 - $50,000
Overtime: Paid at 1.5x the hourly rate.

10 days of paid vacation annually, with up to 70% rollover to the next year.
