We manage a diversified livestock operation over 70+ acres which include, sheep, chickens, and pigs. We abide by Animal Welfare Approved standards with all our livestock being pastured raised.

Part-time Farm Hand Job Description
We’re looking for a motivated and adaptable individual to join our farm team in Rhinebeck, NY. As a Farm Hand, you’ll work closely with the Farm Manager and Vegetable Manager to assist in various aspects of vegetable and flower production, livestock care, and maple syrup production. This is a hands-on role that offers plenty of opportunities to learn and grow.
Primary Responsibilities
Vegetable Production (~ 80% of your time):
Propagation, transplanting, irrigation, cultivation, harvest, and wash/pack of vegetables and flowers.
Bed preparation, applying inputs, and using hand tools like hoes, harvest knives, and more.
Supporting the Vegetable Manager in all aspects of fieldwork and crop care.
Livestock Production (~ 20% of your time):
Assist with handling, fencing, moving animals, and pasture management (e.g., mowing).
Help with animal care tasks, and routine activities.
Maple Syrup Production (seasonal):
Assist as needed during the fall through spring.
Additional Tasks:
Perform daily and weekend chores for vegetables and livestock.
Prepare produce for resale and wholesale accounts.
Attend and support sales at weekend farmers’ market.
Transport products to markets or wholesale customers using a farm vehicle.
Maintain tools, supplies, and farm structures.
Help with barn mucking, tool organization, and general cleanliness.
What We’re Looking For
Self-motivated and ready to work in all types of weather (rain, snow, heat, or cold).
Ability to lift 50+ lbs and perform manual tasks with precision.
Organized and detail-oriented with strong manual dexterity.
Flexible and able to follow both written and oral instructions.
Eager to learn and contribute to a collaborative team environment.
Qualifications
2 years preferred experience in vegetable production
Some experience with livestock is helpful but not required - all livestock work can be learned and/or is done under supervision of the farm manager.
A clean driver’s license (driving farm vehicles off property will be a required to fulfill jobn duties) and reliable transportation (our farm is not accessible via public transportation, and the role requires that the hired individual be able to come to work in most driving conditions dependably)
Compensation
this position is: hourly, $20/hr +
