The Rooting Pig is an on-farm charcuterie bar on Maine's Midcoast serving meat & cheese boards, seasonal plates, salads, and sandwiches, complimented with Maine craft beers, ciders, hard seltzers and an intentional selection of natural wines. The Rooting Pig sources locally, including right on site from Broad Arrow Farm, which raises pigs and poultry, and houses a whole-animal butchery and specialty food market.

Job description

The Kitchen Support position is a key role in the operation of The Rooting Pig.  Responsibilities include maintaining cleanliness and sanitation standards for plates, silverware, pots, pans and cooking utensils using machine and manual cleaning methods.  The Kitchen Support role will also include some light food prep and potential to learn other roles in the kitchen.  The following is a list of responsibilities for this role, with the understanding that additional responsibilities may be added at any time.

• Scrape, rinse and load dishes into machine
• Wash all dishes, utensils, and pans
• Sort and stack clean dishes and utensils
• Clean, sanitize and maintain dish machine
• Unload all dishes from machine and organize them properly
• Draining and refilling sinks as needed
• Food prep when needed and during down time
• Empty trash containers and replace bags as needed
• Maintain a clean work area by mopping and sweeping as needed
• Maintain communication with kitchen management and coworkers
• Maintain a positive attitude and cooperative work environment
• Closing down the dish pit at the end of the night.  Assuring that sinks are cleaned, dishwasher is drained and turned off, trash is taken out and floors are swept and mopped.

Qualifications:

• Prior experience as a dishwasher is preferred but not required
• Ability to work in a fast paced environment
• Good communication skills and the ability to took well in a team
• Ability to stand for long periods of time and lift heavy objects
• Part time or Full time
• Must be able to work weekends

Rooting Pig employees are eligible for advancement within the business, and though this is a seasonal position, the owners are always looking for long term employees.

Compensation

this position is: hourly, $15-20/hr
