Triple Chick Farm is a MOFGA- certified organic farm in Town Hill, ME on Mount Desert Island. Farm Managers Anna and Adam Perkins are excited for this fourth season in 2025 emphasizing a welcoming work environment & growing healthy, accessible crops. We sell produce and flowers via our on-site farm stand, a local online market, and wholesale accounts. On-site housing is not available at this time. We have resources for on island housing, please inquire in the interview regarding housing opportunities.
Job Summary:
First developed in the 2024 season, the Wash and Pack Manager works with the Farm Managers to organize and manage the weekly harvest, washing, and packing of produce.
Tasks include but are not limited to: communicating with Farm Managers about weekly harvests, maintenance of Wash and Pack space and tools, filling out harvest board and order packing sheets, managing the flow of workers and produce in and out of wash and pack, harvest, overseeing and giving feedback on quality and efficiency to Managers and crew members, organization of and inventory in wash station cooler. An eye for detail to quality, comfort with charts and calculating harvest quantities, communication, and efficient work space flow are key to success in this role.
June-early October we have 2 full harvest days per week. January-May and late October-December we have 1 full harvest day per week. The Wash and Pack Manager also may work 1-2 short harvest mornings weekly during the main season. Additional time on the farm, outside the Wash and Pack Manager responsibilities will be spent participating in other farm tasks (see possibilities in Farm and Farm Stand Crew Description).
This position starts in (as early as March) April and May, with focus on familiarity with TCF and wash and pack systems. The position becomes fully wash and pack management mode in June, July, August, and September. The last shift happens in October and early November with a slow down in marketing and completing bulk harvest projects and clean up. There is the option for winter farming work December-March given by seniority and interest in working the following season.
Hours:
Full-time March/April 2025 - November 7th, 2025
Full-time positions are M-F, start time ranges from 7-8am depending on the season. Work days are about 8 hours with a 30 minute paid lunch. If taking a farm stand shift, hours may be adjusted to open or close the stand.
For the Wash and Pack Manager we require 36-40 hr commitment per week, Mondays, Wednesdays are full-harvest days in the main season, Fridays are half-harvest days.
Wash and Pack Manager is asked to arrive 30-15 minutes ahead of farm crew on full- harvest days to set up the day with Farm Managers.
Position Period:
Flexible start and end dates. Must be available (at a minimum) to start by early April and stay until early October to fill this management role.
Core Responsibilities:
Manage Wash and Pack Space
- Record keeping of harvest and orders, delegation of tasks, setup and sanitization of workstation, and cooler inventory organization
Communication and Crew Leadership
- Working with Farm Managers to set up clear and effective harvest and wash/pack days, delegation and overseeing the harvest and wash/pack team
Crop and Packing Quality Control and Quantity Tracking
- Farm Managers establish Harvest and Wholesale availability list based on regular records and feedback from Wash and Pack Manager, Wash and Pack Manager needs an eye for and knowledge of crop quality and ebbs and flows of quantities
Minimum Qualifications:
- One season working on a vegetable farm with experience in a wash and pack environment
Energetic focus on tasks
- Ability to work a 5-8 hour shift in all weather conditions
- Ability to lift 50 lbs safely with repetition.

- Effective and efficient work in a fast-paced and in-flux work environment.
- A consistent desire to improve and be open to learning on the job. Employees at all levels of experience to be trained on the farm through demonstration and hands-on-work.

Compensation:
- Starting at $20/hr
- Raises are based on experience and performance
- Wages are reevaluated regularly based on employees’ income goals
- Time off and PTO commensurate with days worked, day off requests are approved by Farm Managers
- PTO is accrued at 1 hr per 40 hrs worked
- Non-paid days off are accrued at 2 hrs per 40 hrs worked
- All you can eat access to field and seconds produce, a $20 weekly credit to farmstand produce, wholesale pricing on bought in items at farmstand
- End of season bonuses
