Triple Chick Farm consists of seven open acres with two and a half acres in row crop production. The farm is family-owned (by the Rogers family) and family-run (by the Perkins family). Both families have strong ties to the Mount Desert Island area and care deeply about land stewardship, food security, and the healing (and delicious) power of a quality meal.

Triple Chick Farm is a MOFGA- certified organic farm in Town Hill, ME on Mount Desert Island. We are excited for this fourth season in 2025 emphasizing a welcoming work environment & growing healthy, accessible crops. We sell produce and flowers via our on-site farm stand, a local online market, and wholesale accounts. On-site housing is not available. We have resources for on island housing, please inquire in the interview regarding housing opportunities.
Job Summary:
Farm Crew members are the foundation of the farm’s growing season. Each task Farm Crew members carry out is critical in all aspects of food production. Tasks include but are not limited to: seeding, transplanting, weeding, field preparation, crop maintenance, harvesting, washing, and packing produce. Each Farm Crew member will have the same core of field and wash/pack responsibilities, with additional roles to add depth to each worker’s daily/weekly job. If interested in taking on specialized roles, there are different levels of responsibility, experience needed, and some have specific time requirements so do not fit with all schedules. The content of the daily, weekly, and monthly schedule of tasks are influx with the seasonal needs of the farm.
Task repetition and flow is part of the natural farm rhythm: This position starts in April, May, and June with focus on seeding, transplanting, and field preparation. The position becomes more harvest, wash, and crop maintenance focused in July, August, and September. The last shift in priority happens in October and early November on field cleaning (crop termination and cover cropping), high tunnel flipping (transplanting, field prep). There is the option for winter farming work December-March given by seniority and interest in working the following season.
On a weekly to monthly-basis, field-focused hires may be asked to rotate into our on-site Farm Stand, depending on the yearly crew. Responsibilities in a retail environment may include opening and/or closing the farm stand starting as early as 7:00am and as late as 6:30pm, communicating with retail and wholesale clients, stocking and maintaining the displays, keeping inventory, and working at the register.
Hours:
Part-time or Full-time April 1st 2025 - November 7th, 2025
Full-time positions are M-F, start time ranges from 7-8am depending on the season. Work days are about 8 hours with a 30 minute paid lunch. If taking a farm stand shift, hours may be adjusted to open or close the stand.
Part-time positions are flexible and can be part days or full days, creating a consistent schedule with the Farm Managers’ approval is essential to this option.
There are 2 Saturday roles available, in which case a Tuesday-Saturday weekly schedule is available
Opportunities for part-time work November-March go to employees by seniority/interest in working future seasons
Position Period:
Flexible start and end dates. Must be available to start by April - early June depending on roles. Priority for certain roles is given to applicants who can have earlier start dates.
Core Responsibilities:
Transplant, Harvest, and Cultivation
Effectively and efficiently carry out day to day field activities such as: bed prep, transplanting, weeding, harvesting, and general plant and field care.
Wash/Pack
Effectively and efficiently carry out day to day harvesting, washing and produce packaging activities under direction of a Wash and Pack manager or Farm Manager.
Specialized Roles:
This option adds specialized roles to core work. Each position can include as few or as many specialized roles as makes sense based on experience and schedule at Farm Manager’s discretion. This will be a discussion during the interview process and in the early part of the growing season. Example specialized roles available:
- Greenhouse seeding and care
- IPM Assistant
- High Tunnel Crop Specialist
- Field Crop Specialist
- Delivery liaison to wholesale accounts
- Farm Stand Shift and Specialists
- Equipment Operator
- Field and Irrigation Specialist
- Flower Specialist
- Wash and Pack Assistant
Minimum Qualifications:
- Energetic focus on tasks
- Ability to work a 5-8 hour shift in all weather conditions
- Ability to lift 50 lbs safely with repetition.
- Punctuality and attendance
- Effective and efficient work in a fast-paced and in-flux work environment.
- A consistent desire to improve and be open to learning on the job. Employees at all levels of experience to be trained on the farm through demonstration and hands-on-work.
- Respectful and kind interfacing with all people in the work, retail, and community environment.
Compensation:
- Starting at $17-$18 DOE
- Raises are based on experience and performance
Wages are reevaluated regularly based on employees’ income goals
- Time off and PTO commensurate with days worked, day off requests are approved by Farm Managers
- PTO is accrued at 1 hr per 40 hrs worked
- Non-paid days off are accrued at 2 hrs per 40 hrs worked
- All you can eat access to field and seconds produce, a $20 weekly credit to farmstand produce, wholesale pricing on bought in items at farmstand
- End of season bonuses
