Orchard Hill Organics is a diversified market farm in the heart of Westchester County, NY, on the border of Katonah and Somers. We are focused on providing in-demand fresh market products at farmers markets and to the local communities. We take great pride in the quality and flavor of what we grow.

Although we began as an ambitious home garden, we quickly out produced and outpaced our early goals. In 2018 we made the commitment to go public and began selling our products at area farmers markets and to local restaurants.

We specialize in greens, both fresh salad greens and a wide variety of Asian cooking greens, annual vegetable crops, tomatoes, berries, and much more.

Of note here is our established berry plantings, including black raspberries, blackberries, currants, gooseberries, and mature tree stands of the 'exotic' paw paw and persimmon fruit.

We are devoted and committed to using all organically approved methods and sustainable practices, and always have.

Our mission is to maximize the nutritional content of our products and improve the land we’re on. We rely on soil mineralization, composting, compost teas, biological controls, cover cropping, all with the same goal of improving the soil health for both disease management and pest control. Our mission is also to build a resilient farm ecosystem and community from the soil up.

We pack a lot of punch in a small package. We grow year round and currently have over 10,000 sq. ft. of passive high tunnels. A centerpiece of the farm is our 3,000 square foot geothermal greenhouse, with earth battery. These on-farm facilities will all advance our present goals of meeting the demands of an expanding market.

Our facilities and methods also make us uniquely competitive for a farm of our size. We are able to grow on the extreme ends of the local season (usually year round!) when most other farms either don’t or can’t realize that potential.

Recently we have pivoted away from restaurant sales, and refocused on farmers markets, direct consumer sales via online ordering, and in the Fall of 2020, launched the pilot program of our Premium Select Delivery Box or PSDB.

In all that we do we believe in the shortest route from our field to our customers tables.

Job description

We're currently looking for an organic farmer with at least 3 years all around farming experience. We're a small year-round market garden farm. (including our 3,000 square foot geo-thermal greenhouse, traditional greenhouse, indoor microgreens room and more covered spaces). We sell mostly at select local farmers markets, as well as direct to customers. We have a commitment and a reputation for growing high quality greens, vegetables and garden fruit, berries, a mature grove of paw paws trees, and more. Our new farmer will be a self starter, thrive on autonomy and independance, and have the abilty to make on-the-spot decisions. This is a full time/year round position. Salary/wage is commensurate with experience and abilty, starting at $52,000 and up. The position is open and to be filled immediately.
