Global Growers Network (GGN) is a nonprofit based in Decatur, GA that partners with people from diverse cultures to grow fresh food for their families and for local marketplaces. We work with 200 growers representing over 20 cultures and languages. We operate a network of community gardens in Decatur and Clarkston, a market farm located at the Indian Creek MARTA station in Stone Mountain, and a 23-acre organic co-farm in Conyers.

Position Summary and Candidate Vision
The Director of Development is a new role that reports to the Executive Director, to drive the success of our organization’s individual and corporate giving. The ideal candidate will excel at development strategy, innovative campaign design/execution, event management, and telling the stories of culturally diverse growers, their local food systems experience, and agricultural goals.
Job Responsibilities
- Develop and manage a comprehensive annual giving strategy, as well as campaigns, events and metrics of success, that will result in a significant, sustained increase in individual and corporate donor portfolios and gifts.
- Craft and implement a strong donor stewardship program, ensuring frequent, meaningful communication and appropriate recognition.
- Work closely with the Executive Director, to identify donor prospects, build strong donor relationships and solicit gifts.
- Facilitate partnerships with local businesses, groups, and individuals to sponsor, collaborate and participate in donor events.
- Oversee administration of the donor database system, ensuring that data is current and accurate
- Develop donor tracking systems and reporting that will support strategic and tactical campaign design.
- Provide leadership and direct supervision for the Development Team.This currently includes a full-time Development Coordinator and contract event coordinators for the annual garden gala.
- Create and manage the budget for the development department.
- Prepare regular reports on success metrics and deliverables for internal and external stakeholders, including board members and executive staff team.
- Contribute to the organization’s leadership team as the thought leader on development and fundraising strategy.
- Work with relevant board members, staff, and other key stakeholders to to align the development team’s activity with organization’s values, operations, programs, strategic goals, and revenue generation.
- Represent GGN with external stakeholders, including other nonprofits, media, government officials, and funders.
- Other responsibilities as needed.
Requirements
- Five years’ experience in individual and corporate fundraising, including responsibility for donor events, managing donor databases, executing fundraising and cultivation campaigns, and supporting major gifts programs.
- Three years’ experience developing and executing donor campaigns for corporate, individual and major gifts; managing donor stewardship; leading donor events.
- Demonstrated success in having primary responsibility for successfully setting and achieving fundraising targets, managing annual donor events, and meeting budgets.
- Experience in cross-cultural settings and/or local agriculture, conservation or advocacy strongly preferred.
- Proficiency with donor CRMs is required, as well as proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace. Familiarity with Airtable is a plus.
Strong written and spoken interpersonal, presentation and communication skills, in English.
- A valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation for travel between GGN sites and to offsite meetings.
Location and Schedule
This is an exempt position requiring a minimum of 40 hours per week, with standard working hours, Monday - Friday, along with occasional pre-scheduled evening and weekend work. This position will work primarily from our office at Legacy Park in Decatur, with scheduled visits to the farm office in Conyers and other garden sites. Remote work is possible outside of necessary in-office responsibilities, up to approximately 40% of the time.
Compensation and Benefits
The salary range for this position is $70,000 - $80,000 annually, commensurate with experience. Benefits include: Healthcare Reimbursement Account ($370/month), cell phone stipend ($25/month), SIMPLE IRA retirement account (3% match), paid time off (starts at 14 days/year) and paid holidays (7 holidays; 2 floating holidays; 2 week bonus time at year-end), and professional development budget ($1,000/year).
