JOB SUMMARY:
The Hospitality & Events Manager will oversee the “Front of House/FOH” for the culinary offerings and experiences at The Ecology Center. This individual will be organized, meticulous, hard-working, and passionate about hospitality. They will lead a team of FOH staff - including; recruitment, training, scheduling, and supporting. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on leader, teaching by doing. This role requires attention to detail and an interest in upgrading the daily details.
The Hospitality & Events Manager will operate the day-to-day FOH needs for Campesino Cafe (The Ecology Center’s restaurant, Weds-Sun, breakfast and lunch). This is a hands-on role, working alongside the FOH team. Additionally, this individual will lead hospitality for the various special dinners and private events at The Ecology Center.
LOCATION: San Juan Capistrano (must be on-site)
POSITION TYPE: Full-Time
SCHEDULE: Wednesday-Sunday. Must be available for weekend and evening experiences as per need.
COMPENSATION: *$60,000-$70,000/yr ( $28-$33/hr).
*We are offering a compensation range for this role that reflects varying levels of experience. For candidates with proven proficiency and experience, the position would be salaried exempt, starting at $68,640 annually. For candidates with the potential to grow into the role, the position would start hourly at $28/hour.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Cafe FOH Responsibilities
Lead FOH efforts for Campesino Cafe, The Ecology Center’s on-site restaurant
You’ll be working Cafe shifts as well as managing FOH for the Cafe…
Work with Cafe leadership on FOH scheduling and staff recruitment
Work with The Ecology Center leadership to create hospitality protocols and ensure all staff are trained on hospitality best practices
Work with the FOH team to ensure spaces are always at the required level of presentation - including the tables/cafe furniture, bussing stations, waste bins, and restrooms
Dinners & Private Events
Lead FOH efforts for special dinners and culinary private events - including Community Table Dinners on Friday evenings between March-November
Manage staff and volunteers - scheduling teams accordingly
Ensure the facilities and materials are cared for meaningfully - owning the organization of the FOH and storage spaces related to culinary events

REQUIREMENTS
5+ years experience in hospitality - Proven experience in hospitality management (specific to restaurant setting)
Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred -Experience in managing events; banquets, catering services, or large-scale events.
Exceptional guest service skills with a focus on creating memorable experiences.
Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed.
