Company description

At Buddha Bee Apiary, we’re on a mission to help people fall in love with pollinators—starting with honeybees. Through our Host-a-Hive program, we install and maintain beehives in backyards across the Triangle. We believe that hands-on experiences with beekeeping can inspire change and create more advocates for pollinators. Our beekeepers are passionate about keeping bees healthy and educating others.

Job description

We are growing and looking to bring on another beekeeper to help manage our colonies. This role will work closely with, and take direction from, our Lead Beekeeper. This is a full-time position requiring ~40 hours per week and involves all aspects of colony management including making splits, feeding, honey extraction, equipment prep, etc. We provide on the job training and do not require you to have prior experience although it is a plus!

The candidate will be responsible for managing 30-40 colonies across the Triangle and keeping detailed inspection notes. This is a great opportunity to hone your colony management skills and learn more about regenerative beekeeping practices.

Another important aspect of this position is the ability to work with people. Many of our hosts take part in our monthly inspections. We take the time to develop strong connections with our hosts, teach them the beauty of beekeeping, and share our knowledge about the inner workings of a hive. We often have people suit up and join us for hands-on experiences in the hive, so safety, education, and fun are core to our mission.

Requirements:

  • Valid NC Driver’s License and good driving record - this requirement is tired to our insurance rates, and since we spend a large portion of the job commuting to each client location, it's important to have confidence that the candidate has a safe driving history.
