The Texas-Blockhouse Fish and Game Club is a sporting camp founded in 1912 and is located in north-central Pennsylvania. It’s situated on over 6,000 acres of property.
Job description
The Club anticipates an opening for full-time caretakers. The caretakers are responsible for housekeeping, meal preparation, outdoor maintenance and care of equipment. Caretaker income consists of base salary, benefits, and income from meal concession. Private apartment, utilities, use of kitchen facilities and equipment included at no cost. Caretakers do have access to the Club’s property/streams. Experience in running sporting camps preferred, but will consider related experience.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist Club committees in the ongoing maintenance of the Club’s building and grounds. This
includes (but is not limited to) mowing grass, raking/blowing leaves, snow removal from the driveway,
walks and parking areas.
Organize and ensure all Club tools and equipment are in operational condition. This includes
keeping the tool shed area organized.
Routine maintenance of Club tractors, trucks, and farming implements.
Plowing, planting, spraying, fencing and assistance in harvesting Club food plots and crops, under
the direction of the Habitat Committee Chairman.
Assisting the Feed Committee in distribution of feed during the winter months
Assisting the Steam Maintenance Committee in stream restoration projects, as needed.
Assist, as needed, in the setup and breakdown for Club events.
Other related duties as assigned
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to
perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge,

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
The Caretaker should have a high school diploma or the equivalent. They shall have extensive experience
in equipment operation and maintenance. Experience with farm equipment preferred.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Hold a valid Pennsylvania drivers license
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
The Caretaker must have the ability to read, and understand, written directions and technical manuals.
Ability to write and correspond as requested by the Board of Directors.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
The Caretaker must have the ability to work with basic math skills such as measuring, length and
liquids. They must be able to perform simple calculations.
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:
To be effective the Caretaker must have the ability to establish and maintain effective working
relationships with Club members, committee chairmen, and forge a productive working relationship with
the Board of Directors. The ability to speak clearly and concisely is necessary. The ability to effectively
deal with a wide range of people is a must.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Must be able to lift/carry 65 lbs. Sit stand, and walk without limitation. The noise level in this position
varies. When operating equipment or power tools the noise level will be loud. In those conditions the Caretaker is expected to wear appropriate hearing protection. While operating chainsaws, wearing protective chaps is mandatory.
