Objectives You’re Here to Meet!
● Develop print/digital content - plan, coordinate, research, write, edit, and share across platforms including social media, website, email, events, and other modes of communication including infographics and presentations
● Engage, mobilize, and grow the CFPAC audiences with compelling content and campaigns
● Provide communications strategy and execution support on cross-functional project teams
● Strengthen partnerships across the Rhizome Network and the Chicago food justice ecosystem by uplifting and amplifying campaigns, advocacy asks, and information from peer organizations and partner institutions
● Measure, analyze, and report on communications efforts across platforms; leverage internal data and industry benchmarks to maximize the effectiveness of content strategies
● Support the cultivation and coordination of internal networks, including the Chicago Food Justice Rhizome Network, by creating communication templates, processes, and feedback loops
● Support CFPAC events with promotional and outreach efforts
● Manage CFPAC and GFPI websites
● Create and manage CFPAC content calendar in alignment with a communications strategic plan
What You'll Bring:
● A strategic, collaborative, creative mindset
● 3+ years of professional, educational, or volunteer-based experience in content creation and communications management, preferably in a non-profit or government context
● Demonstrated experience creating, disseminating, and managing digital campaigns across channels
● Demonstrated commitment to food sovereignty principles and the Chicago food justice ecosystem
● Experience working with organizations dedicated to racial and economic justice work with and for Black, Brown, and Indigenous people
● A solutions-oriented ability to prioritize multiple tasks and adapt to new projects and timelines
● Excellent writing and editing skills, especially to:
○ Develop content for an array of platforms, styles, and formats
○ Distill complex or technical information into succinct and approachable messages
○ Tailor messaging to suit specific audiences and stakeholder groups while remaining aligned
with CFPAC values, mission, and theory of change
● Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy in creating, reviewing, and proofreading materials
● Competency with graphic design tools like adobe and canva
● Experience with website management (Squarespace preferred) and all relevant social media platforms
● Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills to establish and maintain effective working partnerships internally and externally
Compensation
this position is: salaried, 50k-75k
