Siena Farms is an award-winning, 50-acre market farm growing diversified produce on the fertile soils of the Sudbury River valley, twenty-five miles west of Boston. We grow over 100 varieties of vegetables for our year-round CSA, our farmstores in the Boston Public Market and Boston’s South End, and area restaurants including family-owned Oleana, Sofra, and Sarma. We use regenerative, biological agricultural practices to build our soil’s health and productivity, free of chemical herbicides, pesticides, and synthetic fertilizers.
Job description
We are seeking a hard-working, committed, talented individual motivated by a career interest in food systems to join our 2025 team as an Assistant Office Manager.
Siena Farms’ Assistant Office Manager is a member of the year-round staff for our 50-acre diversified produce farm. In this position, the Assistant Office Manager will split time between administrative tasks in the office and field work on the farm. They are supervised by our Business Manager and Asst. Business Manager to help coordinate and operate CSA membership and manage key administrative tasks related to the operations of the farm office and CSA program. Field work will generally consist of tasks such as planting, cultivation, harvesting, and post-harvest handling. The Assistant Office Manager will spend around 3 days/week in the office and 2 days/week in the field, based on the priorities of the farm.

Primary responsibilities of the Assistant Office Manager include but are not limited to assisting our Business Managers with the oversight and execution of the following areas:
CSA Management
- Coordinate CSA schedule changes for members, received via email or phone
- Oversight and preparation of CSA pack counts for the upcoming week for Harvest Managers and Distribution Managers
- CSA Member database updates
- Maintain CSA customer seasonal schedules
- Prepare weekly CSA customer newsletters
- Execute customer retainment and recruitment activities
- Communicate with CSA host sites about schedule changes, updates, promotional material, etc.
- Assist with oversight of Community Sponsored Farm Share Program, including coordinating with partner organizations
- Collect and analyze data from CSA customer feedback to present during winter crop planning sessions
Office Administration
- General office duties like answering phone calls, checking and returning voicemails, ordering office supplies, etc.
- Assist in website maintenance and updates
- Oversight of printed and digital marketing materials, such as flyers, posters, take-one cards, etc.
- Prepare reports for team meetings
- Assist in managing the farm's social media presence
Event Coordination
- Assist in the coordination and operation of special events, such as CSA member events, fundraising events, volunteer harvest days, farm dinners, staff events, etc.
Field Work
- Planting, including greenhouse propagation and mechanical transplanting in the fields
- Cultivation/weed-control by hand and hoe
- Field work such as trellising, pruning, fencing & thinning
- Daily harvest of our 150+ varieties of vegetables, fresh herbs, mushrooms and flowers
- Post-harvest handling, including washing, curing, packing, and transporting produce
- Assisting other Siena Farms managers in the training and leading of field crew through production and harvest tasks
- Preparation and packing of CSA Farm Shares, orders for restaurant deliveries, and orders for our retail stores in Boston
Qualifications
- Previous experience working in an administrative role, previous management experience is a plus
- One season of farm experience preferred, but not required
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs repeatedly
- Familiarity with the CSA model for farm businesses
- Interest in sustainable agriculture and food systems
- Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and triage work based on priority level
- Very high attention to detail and ability to problem solve
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Mid-to-high level of experience with or knowledge of Google Sheets (or MS Excel)
- Ability to work comfortably on a team in a collaborative setting, as well as ability to self-direct
- Experience with Shopify web maintenance is a plus, but not required
Schedule
- Our Assistant Office Manager position is considered a full-time, year-round position, averaging 40 hours/week spread over 4 days per week in the “cold months” (December through March), and averaging 50 hours / week spread over 5 days in the “warm months” (April through November)
- Daily schedule is 7am – 5pm year-round
- The allocation of time between office and field work tasks will be closely coordinated with priorities of the farm in mind, but can be tailored to the Assistant Office Manager’s preferences when possible
- One hour of paid lunch break per day is allotted to all farm staff
Compensation
- Competitive salary, generous PTO package, and fully covered health insurance benefits 90 days after start date.

- We do not offer on-farm housing
- Reliable transportation to and from the farm in Sudbury is required (we are located in an area that lacks sufficient public transportation).
Compensation
this position is: salaried, 43,888* - 50k
