The Food Bank of Northeast Georgia is a 501(c)3 organization that gathers donated items and purchased food from local, regional, state, and national product companies and programs. Food is processed and delivered from our two Branches in Athens and Clayton, GA. to human-service agencies, education and faith-based organizations. These local Members then distribute that food directly to our neighbors, including children, older adults, individuals and families. Members of the Food Bank mobilize food through a variety of food access programs, such as onsite pantries and meal programs, mobile pantries, and delivered meal kits. We are grateful for the generosity of our supporters who ensure food flows into the community every day.
Job description
Job Summary:
The Food Access Coordinator (FAC) is responsible for managing current relationships with the Food Bank of Northeast Georgia’s members in Barrow, Jackson, Madison, Hart, Elbert, and Oglethorpe Counties from the Food Bank’s Athens campus. As a core member of the Food Access & Procurement Team, the FAC will collaborate with other Food Bank staff and external stakeholders to cultivate new relationships with potential members and partners in these counties. The FAC will also work with local members to assist in their participation with Food Bank initiatives, such as SNAP application assistance, Member Enablement, Food 2 Kids, and Senior Nutrition.
The Food Access Coordinator will also engage with and visit communities in their service area to build connections, represent the Food Bank, and connect neighbors in need to Food Bank members and resources.
Key Responsibilities:
· Cultivates, develops, and expands partnerships within the Food Bank of Northeast Georgia’s service area of Barrow, Jackson, Madison, Hart, Elbert, and Oglethorpe Counties.
· Maintains strong working relationships with current members of the Food Bank.
· Collaborates with other staff in the Food Access & Procurement team to execute member support, training, inspection, retention, and recruitment strategies.
· Develops partnerships with organizations to identify advocacy and access opportunities, creating solutions to remove and reduce barriers to food access.
· Works with team members to strategically sustain and grow member relationships, leveraging each opportunity to deepen our connections across the service region.
· Collaborates with community and business partners to find sponsors for mobile pantries, grow SNAP outreach, and develop opportunities to further enhance child, student, family, and aging adult programs.
· Cultivates relationships with other community organizations, establishing and maintaining a vibrant community presence.
· Completes regular member and program site visits in Barrow, Jackson, Madison, Hart, Elbert, and Oglethorpe Counties.
· Diligently maintains and enforces compliance with FBNEGA, USDA, and other regulations related to food access and safety.
· Creates, maintains, manages, and electronically files all necessary paperwork and documents.
· Records notes and updates member information on Primarius and Monday.com.
· Assists with planning and executing the annual Membership Conference.
· Connects neighbors with nutrition education opportunities as appropriate.
· Represents the FBNEGA at networking opportunities and other events, making connections and giving presentations with the goal of deepening the Food Bank’s ecosystem of relationships.
· Collaborates with the Accounting department to support grant management.
· Supports the evolution and implementation of Senior Nutrition Initiatives
· Partners with SNAP Outreach Manager to support the growth and impact of SNAP enrollment by active information sharing with members, community partners, and via outreach events.
· Other related duties as assigned by the FBNEGA leadership team
Qualifications:
· Candidate must be able to pass criminal background check and drug screening.
· Must have a clean driving record and reliable access to a vehicle.
· Must be willing to regularly travel throughout Barrow, Jackson, Madison, Hart, Elbert, and Oglethorpe Counties.
· Must have strong community organization and networking skills.
· Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
· Must be flexible and comfortable with adapting to evolving programmatic needs.
· Must be creative, positive, and self-motivated.
· Strong technology skills including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Canva and other in-house data and reporting systems, such as Primarius and Monday.com.
· Ability to communicate to and manage large groups of volunteers.
Personal Qualities:
· Ability to work amicably and collaboratively across all Food Bank departments and staff.
· Ability to use independent judgment in routine and non-routine situations.
· Ability to enter data with accuracy and with high attention to detail.

· Must be able to communicate complex qualification and compliance information with Food Bank Members.
· Must be able to communicate empathetically and treat SNAP clients in a warm, courteous, and helpful manner.
· Must be committed to the Food Bank’s mission and initiatives.
Work Environment:
Candidate’s work will be value, goal, and deadline oriented. Regular onsite work and predictable attendance at the Food Bank of Northeast Georgia campus in Athens will be required. Local travel, some extended hours, some weekend work, and some evening work may be required.
Physical Demands:
· The ability to occasionally lift, move, and carry objects weighing up to 25 lbs. safely and comfortably.
· The ability to drive multiple hours a day, as needed.
· The ability to use close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception to see and respond while driving.
· The ability to speak, for expressing or exchanging information and instructions through spoken word.
· The ability to receive instructions or information by means of oral communication.
