Sweetland Farm in Norwich, Vermont is known for bountiful CSA shares, a full-diet farm stand, and a strong commitment to sustainability. We are very proud to be the active stewards of this beautiful farm land, and to be passing these important skills and values on to the next generation. We pride ourselves on being a fun, hard-working, and diverse team of farmers and farm crew.
Job description
The Vegetable Production Specialist works closely under the Vegetable Production Manager and alongside our field crew to assist with growing and harvesting fresh vegetable and fruit crops on our diversified family farm. The VPS assists with seeding, transplanting, cultivation, and harvest of over 100 annual and perennial crops using a wide array of hand tools and mechanical implements. This position has the ideal combination of working alongside our fun and diverse field crew much of the time, while also being tasked with some independent and autonomous projects. Though their primary focus and responsibility lies with vegetable production, the VPS occasionally assists with other ‘all hands’ aspects of our diversified farm – like haying and chicken harvest – as available. This position offers the perfect opportunity for someone with prior farm work experience to take their production skills and responsibilities to the next level. This position is supported by ample hands-on training, detailed SOPs, and close collaboration with farm owners and managers.
