Doux South is a rapidly growing producer of southern pickled vegetables in Atlanta.  Started by Atlanta chef Nick Melvin and Mark Hungarland in 2013, Doux South's growth can be attributed to it's unique all-natural product line featuring wonderful brines and crunchy pickles.  We're fanatics about quality, so we've kept all production in-house.  Our production kitchen is located in Atlanta's food and beverage mecca, the Lee & White district on the southwest side.

Job description

Doux South is offering an immediate opportunity for the right person to play a critical role in our rapidly growing company.  This is a part-time position for approximately 20 hours per week.

Qualifications

HACCP and PCQI certification is required.  A Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science, Microbiology or related discipline and 1-4 years’ experience in food production or product development is preferred. Candidate must have the ability to understand and execute a variety of company procedures, policies, and must be a multi-task oriented. Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team, follow and give directions and make decisions based quality standards.

Responsibilities

Position the company to meet SQF standards on a continuous basis and maintain our SQF Level 2 certification.  Ensure that all products are produced according to the established process specifications and quality standards while maintaining peak performance and efficiency levels. Ensure all specifications are met for labeling and packing products required for shipment. Sample and test incoming ingredients and packaging materials for compliance against physical, chemical and microbiological specifications. Support training for new products, equipment and policies as they are implemented. Assure that reporting of all data including the quantity of product produced, raw material lot numbers, process control point results, finished package weights, are collected, analyzed, and reported in a timely and accurate manner. Conduct training and audits for employee practices and GMP compliance. Manage area of responsibility to maintain regulatory, customer and third party audit requirements.

Prepare for and pass SQF Level 2 Audits

Maintain all QA and Food Safety documents necessary for SQF certification

Manage development of new products from recipe to production

Manage and update our HACCP as necessary

Review and approve all completed production documents

Receive and approve incoming ingredients

Approve outgoing food service shipments

Maintain retain log and inventory

Conduct weekly GMP audits

Conduct bi-annual internal audits

Plan and conduct ongoing training of production staff and record results

Conduct mock recalls and tracing

Conduct environmental testing

Compensation

this position is: hourly, $20/hr +
