Amaranth Acres is a family-owned farm growing vegetables sustainably without applying synthetic pesticides and fertilizers. The farm also raises chickens and meat goats in pasture. 

Job description

The employee will help in the operations of the farm which include growing vegetables, animal care, mowing, trimming and general maintenance. The employee should be able to operate small machinery and be willing to learn to operate a tractor.

An ideal candidate would have worked in a small diversified farm or is eager to learn how to run one. 

The employee should be willing to work outside in all weather conditions. The summer hours will be longer than the winter hours.

We are looking for a part-time or full-time worker willing to work throughout the year.

This is a good opportunity for someone interested in learning how to run a small diversified farm operation. 

 

The primary duties include but not limited to:

Soil care and  preparation for vegetables
Growing, weeding and harvesting vegetable crops
Working in the high tunnel
Feeding the goats - daily 
Hoof care - couple of times in a year
Cleaning the feeding area - 3 times a year
Spot Cleaning the barn - daily
Feeding the chickens - daily
Cleaning the chicken coop - couple of times in a month
Maintenance/trimming work around the fence - as needed
Operate small machinery

 

Qualification:
Good work ethic and punctuality
Attention to detail
Patience and being careful with animals, tools and equipment
Willing to learn and follow directions
Adapt to the work conditions
Friendly and have a positive attitude 
Be able to work outside in all weather conditions
Be able to squat, bend, kneel, and lift/move 50lbs of weight

Nice to have, but not necessary

Valid driver’s license

Compensation

this position is: hourly, $15-20/hr
