Nouvelle Maison is your neighborhood French market, café, boulangerie, fromagerie, and wine and spirits purveyor. It will be a place to shop for the home and will foster community and connection. Job description

We are looking for passionate full-time cheesemongers to join our small, but mighty team. Prior experience in cheese and fine provisions in retail is preferred, but we are happy to train the right candidate from the ground up with hands-on training. We offer up to 100 cheeses at a time, along with a robust selection of charcuterie, so having the right aptitude and desire to learn and assist customers in their selections is a must. As a growing business, team members are expected to be flexible and assist in other areas in the store outside of their direct responsibilities, as teamwork and camaraderie are ingrained in our core principles.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Provide exceptional customer service by engaging with customers, answering questions, recommending products
  Maintain up to date knowledge on types of cheese, along with their flavor profiles and origins, and pairings
• Cut and wrap cheese and charcuterie products for customers and displays
• Keep the cheese display neat and well-stocked, along with other areas of the store, as needed
• Monitor inventory levels, rotating stock, and alerting buyers to order products as needed
• Adhere to all food safety and sanitation regulations
• Perform opening and/or closing duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• Prior experience as a cheesemonger is a plus but not necessary. We will train you from scratch!
• Experience in a specialty food retail environment
• A desire and passion to learn about the extensive world of cheese and charcuterie and what our store offers
• A desire to provide customer service that goes above and beyond
• Ability to be proactive and multitask
• Ability to lift heavy wheels of cheese
• Experience teaching is a plus
• Knowledge of wine and spirits is a plus

Requirements:

• Ability work with people of various backgrounds
• Availability to work weekday, weekend, morning, and evening shifts
• Flexibility and understanding that, as a new store, procedures are subject to change as needed
• Must have reliable transportation (public transportation is available through bus and commuter rail)

Compensation & Benefits:

• $18-20 / hr (plus additional “customer service fee”)
