After 36 years of working from the basement of a church, Common Pantry purchased a building, remodeled as an ADA, fully accessible, light-filled and efficient space in August 2023. Job description

Are you an RD or RDN who wants to impact short and long term health outcomes for those seeking emergency food on Chicago's Northside? Do you have a unique combination of skills and vision that would move health equity for our city's most marginalized? Common Pantry is seeking a full-time Food Programs Manager. This role leads the supervision, supply and operations of Common Pantry’s food programs, including grocery distribution, hot lunch, Produce Day, and the organization’s new nutrition program. This position is overseen and directly supervised by the Executive Director.

Candidate Profile:

  • Must be a Registered Dietitian (RD) or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) with current licensure in the state of Illinois
  • Proof of certification and licensure must be provided upon hiring and maintained throughout employment
  • An understanding of, and belief in, the importance of food security for everyone
  • Strong preference given to Spanish speaking candidate
  • Experience working in an operations or logistics role, food and/or customer service preferred 
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and eager to work directly with the public
  • Basic computer skills required and comfortable learning digital platforms and data entry with training
  • Capacity to work independently, with a team, and open to contributing ideas to improve the organization
  • A current Food Service Manager Certification or willingness to obtain within 3 months of hire
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.

Hiring and Application process:

The hiring process will include submission of a resume, cover letter, and one round of in-person interviews followed by finalist interviews if needed. Applicants will be reviewed daily with interviews scheduled individually until the position is filled. The anticipated start date for this position is October 2024.

Compensation

this position is: salaried, 50k-75k
