Featherstone Farm, founded in 1994, is a 250 acre certified organic farm located in the bluff country in and around Rushford, Minnesota.  The farm produces over 70 varieties of fresh market fruits and vegetables for distribution to local co-ops, grocers, wholesalers and a CSA program running May - February.

Job description

Job Summary

Featherstone Farm is seeking a creative, energetic, and organized individual to serve as its Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) Program Administrator in 2025.  This is a full time, permanent position.

 

This is an opportunity to work for a local organic vegetable farm that is committed to building a more just and sustainable food system. The work will be both practical/pragmatic and also creative and visionary. Farming–especially organic vegetable farming–is a values-based vocation that builds strong communities; this role will highlight and share this message with many different people, customers, and business partners in SE MN, SW WI, and the Twin Cities metro. 

 

The CSA Administrator is responsible for all aspects of the farm’s outreach and marketing work including public communications, proactive outreach to new members and customers, and online and social media presence. They will coordinate all aspects of the CSA Farm Share program, including day to day program management, communication with members, customer service, member recruitment, and member events on the farm. 

 

The position is based on the farm in Rushford, MN where the CSA administrator will be immersed in the day-to-day workings of the farm and the CSA box packing process. They will be able to see vegetable crops coming out of the field and have a strong knowledge of how crops look as we prepare them for customers. This position will also involve some travel, especially during key times of the year, to our CSA member communities in Rochester, LaCrosse, and Winona as well as the Twin Cities area.

 

Responsibilities

There is significant opportunity for the role to be creative, proactive, and to think outside the box. This role will be part of the key management team at Featherstone. 

 

Marketing and Communications 

-Create and execute seasonal marketing plans for the Farm Share program

-Implement communication strategies to enhance the Featherstone brand across local and regional markets

-Oversee the farm’s social media presence

-Generate daily and weekly content for Instagram and Facebook
Interface with other farms and food system entities across platforms

-Spend time in and around farm operations, getting to know and understand daily and seasonal activities of the farm and the people who carry them out


-Create weekly newsletter and social media content based on this first- hand experience


-Work with Featherstone Farm leadership team on comprehensive outreach strategy

-Seek media opportunities for Featherstone Farm to highlight the values of sustainability, organic farming, and fair labor practices
 

CSA Program

-Serve as the face of the CSA program for all farm share members
-Communicate with and provide customer service for all members by responding to emails, calls, and other outreach

-Pack CSA boxes each week with the team to understand the process and crops going out to customers each week

-Work with the management team to expand CSA offerings in local and metro markets 

-Plan and execute events on the farm and in other locations 
 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

A successful applicant will be:

-A strong writer and clear communicator

-Base knowledge of seasonal vegetables and scratch cooking
An independent thinker who is excited about translating good ideas into action.

-Fluent in online communications including social media platforms and online advertising


-Collaborative and creative in their thinking and interactions with team members


-Organized and timely when initiating projects and communicating with CSA members


-Committed to the role of proactive outreach across multiple channels in expanding Featherstone Farm’s customer base


-Dedicated to the values of environmental sustainability, fair labor practices, strong rural communities, and a just and vital local food system
 

Compensation

this position is: hourly, $20/hr +
