Job description

Join our team of progressive Teaching Kitchen innovators at FamilyCook Productions. We are an award-winning non-profit organization providing highly effective, innovative turn-key healthy cooking programs for pre-K through adult.  We disseminate edible nutrition education to schools, farms and community organizations, hospitals and large corporations nationwide.  We conduct research on our innovative strategies in collaboration with Columbia University’s Teachers College, Einstein College of Medicine and other institutions across the US.  

Position Description:

The Teaching Kitchen Program Manager position works 40 hours per week Monday – Friday schedule in a positive work environment.   The ideal candidate will have culinary experience, program management and SM marketing experience. This is a client interaction and program management position that is critical to the daily operations of the agency. This position requires someone with professional communication and organizational skills and who enjoys interacting with a diverse group of clients, dietetic interns and youth. 

This role is ideal for someone with culinary/nutrition skills interested to segue into non-profit management and culinary nutrition education and research. Should be passionate about food and cooking, comfortable in a dynamic environment where priorities can change quickly, and excited to help build a strong, fun, team-centered environment. An ability to take initiative and address problems with solutions on a macro level is critical to succeed in this role. 

Self-motivation and a positive, can-do attitude are essential for this role that could become a springboard to other roles. Our past employees have gone on to high level positions in test kitchens, editorial departments and Ivy League level academia in nutrition, from our tutelage. The Teaching Kitchen Manager will report directly to the Founder.

Requirements:

  • Exceptional organizational skills
  • Detail oriented
  • Basic culinary skills, professional training a plus
  • Health conscious and nutrition knowledgeable 
  • Lively, outgoing personality
  • Experience with marketing and PR in social media platforms, including Instagram, Hootsuite, Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube
  • Strong computer skills, especially with Mac OS, Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Google Workplace; CANVA, AirTable, Adobe Acrobat Pro
  • Professional written and verbal communication skills
    Ability to multi-task and deliver in a timely manner
  • Team player
  • Strong problem solving/solution seeking skills
  • Proficient in online content management systems such as Wordpress, and Constant Contact
  • Excellent proofreading skills
  • Proficiency with video editing apps is a plus but not required
     

Responsibilities:

  • Manages organization’s nutrition education programs, including training (in-person and virtual), delivery and maintenance of programs.
  • Participates in planning and support of program events and projects.
  • Collaborates in development and refinement of culinary nutrition education curriculum.
  • Assists in research and evaluation of culinary nutrition education programs.
  • Trains others on how to effectively run teaching kitchen classes.
    Occasional recipe development and recipe testing.
  • Manages social media content and supervisors interns and team graphic design support.
  • Serves as a co-preceptor for dietetic interns and manages interns’ assignments/projects.
  • Assists in program grant applications and client proposals.
This position is not exempt from overtime pay (and we will track the hours / pay overtime accordingly).

Compensation

this position is: salaried, 50k-75k
