Company description
Threshold is a new restaurant in Livingston Manor, NY (2 hours west of NYC) opening in November 2024. Threshold aims to bring elevated home-style Korean cuisine to the Catskills area, serving as both an introduction to traditional Korean dishes and an exploration of Catskills produce through the lens of Korean flavors. The beverage menu at Threshold features New York state beers, ciders, and wines by the glass, a broad selection of sool (Korean alcohols), and a global list of wines by the bottle in addition to draft and a la minute cocktails.
Threshold seeks to create a menu and environment that is both a showcase of local farmers and a comfortable and beloved community space. We believe that food, regardless of cuisine, naturally connects friends and strangers alike. We are committed to making our restaurant financially accessible and welcoming to all.
Threshold practices Open Book Management and has a robust quarterly 360 review process. All employees receive ICHRA benefits to help them purchase health insurance on the NYS exchange.
Our values
- Our food is unapologetically Korean.
- All people deserve access to new flavors and beautiful spaces.
- Plant-based eaters should have robust and interesting options.
- We buy local whenever possible, and Korean whenever essential.
- Front- and back-of-house workers all deserve dignity of labor and income.
That means…
- Our dishes and meal structure don’t seek to mimic European or Japanese cuisines. Our team will help you build a meal you’ll enjoy if you’re unfamiliar!
- You will always find affordably priced items on our food and drink menus. We come from working class backgrounds - having affordable offerings, even if they’re less profitable, means we get to feed our people. It’s not charity, it’s community.
- There will always be vegan options in every section of the menu and they will change seasonally. Plant-based eaters are not an afterthought here.
- Our menu showcases local produce purchased directly from farmers whenever we are able. When no comparable product is available locally or there is a compelling reason to do so, we buy Korean products. When we have to, we buy commercial.
- All workers are paid an hourly wage above the standard minimum wage and tips are split among all staff, both FOH and BOH. We collaborate to create a work place with clear expectations, clear paths of progression, and healthy work culture and we solicit 360 feedback in service of those goals.
