Job description
We are expanding our direct-to-consumer business and are seeking a customer-focused Growth Manager to join our team. The ideal candidate is a local food advocate who loves solving problems and is dedicated to creating a positive customer experience. In this role, you'll begin by handling operational tasks to gain a deep understanding of our business. As you become more familiar with our operations and processes, you'll transition to executing and eventually developing strategic initiatives. This role offers a unique opportunity to grow into a leadership position, shaping the future direction of our direct-to-consumer business.
You will be responsible for driving customer acquisition, engagement, and retention to maximize revenue growth. The Growth Manager will interpret data to understand customer preferences, stay attuned to industry market trends, and work cross-functionally with marketing, procurement, and sales teams to identify opportunities, implement growth initiatives, and innovate customer experiences that align with our business goals and values.
Primary Responsibilities:
Customer Service and Experience Management:
Handle customer inquiries and resolve order issues to ensure a positive experience.
Assist customers with account management and educate them about our partnerships with local farmers and artisans.
Execute Growth Initiatives:
Implement strategies to drive customer acquisition, engagement, and retention.
Lead marketing initiatives and events to increase sales and revenue growth.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Work with procurement, operations, and marketing teams to ensure cohesion and alignment across departments for the successful execution of the direct-to-consumer business line.
Relay customer feedback to relevant teams to improve products, services, and customer experience.
Data Analysis and Financial Performance:
Review and interpret sales reports, customer behavior metrics, and financial data to identify trends and opportunities.
Collaborate with management to develop budgets, set sales goals, and establish KPIs, eventually taking ownership of these processes to drive profitability.
Progress to Strategic Development:
Over time, take full ownership of developing growth strategies and identifying new opportunities.
Identify and implement innovative solutions to expand market reach, enhance customer experiences, and increase revenue.
Required Qualifications:
Minimum of 3 years in customer service, operations, sales, marketing, or e-commerce, focusing on direct customer interactions and relationship management.
Experience in data analysis and interpretation to drive business decisions.
Excellent project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and execute strategic initiatives.
Strong communication and interpersonal abilities, capable of collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams and leading initiatives.
Motivated, proactive, detail-oriented, and results-driven mindset, aligned with our mission to support local food systems and promote sustainability.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience managing e-commerce platforms, particularly Shopify.
Proven experience developing customer acquisition strategies, including digital marketing campaigns and customer journey enhancements.
Experience with subscription-based business models, such as CSA programs or other recurring revenue streams.
Experience leading teams or projects, with the ability to mentor and develop staff.
Familiarity with data management tools (Airtable, Google Sheets, Excel), marketing automation platforms (MailChimp, Klaviyo), graphic design tools (Canva, Adobe CS), and media management tools (Meta, Later).
Anticipated Schedule:
This is a full-time position (approx. 40 hours/week) based at Freshlist’s headquarters in Charlotte, NC. You will work in various environments, including an office, warehouse, refrigerated areas, and delivery vehicles. During the first 90 days, the position is 100% in-office. After that, it transitions to approximately 30 hours in-office and 10 hours remote, with remote hours including occasional weekends or evenings for responding to customer inquiries, participating in company events, or handling other tasks where in-office is not essential. During your onboarding, we will work with you to establish your schedule, including the specific days and times for in-office and remote work.
Compensation and Benefits:
Base Salary: $50,000 per year, payable bi-weekly and subject to deductions for taxes and other withholdings as required by law or the policies of the company.
Bonuses: Employees are eligible for performance-based bonuses, which are awarded based on individual, team, and company performance, and subject to company discretion.
