OVERVIEW: Riverwards Produce is a group of produce focused markets in Philadelphia
The Juice Bar Staff position at Riverwards Produce Old City works in the Produce Department to make cut fruit and fresh juices at the Juice Bar. They maintain a clean workspace that is always in compliance with food safety protocol to ensure our customers are receiving quality product from the Juice Bar. They pass on inquiries and suggestions from both customers and staff and coordinate with the Produce Supervisor to execute plans which ensure an innovative and exciting menu, product variance, store cleanliness, and aesthetic coherence. They have a working knowledge of retail customer service and can help ring up a customer, find a quart of strawberries or fill a bag of bulk almonds.
Reports to: Produce Manager/Produce Supervisor
Daily Responsibilities:
- Greets customers and provides helpful information
- Makes juices, smoothies and cut fruit according to the procedures given by the Juice Bar Supervisor/Produce Manager
- Completes the list of tasks associated with the shift worked (Refer to opening and closing produce duties lists)
- Helps with daily operations in Produce department when the juice bar is not busy
- Organizes and maintains the cleanliness of the Juice Bar storage, prep and work areas
- Ensures the market appears clean and orderly by cleaning up messes, breaking down boxes, sweeping, and helping unload shipments when necessary.
Requirements:
- Kitchen/Food Prep experience
- A desire to greet and engage customers and foster relationships with regulars
- Punctual and detail oriented
- A positive attitude and an enthusiastic desire to provide storewide customer service
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs and spend 8+ hours standing and walking up and down stairs; this includes lifting, carrying, and stooping
- Passion for the principles of sustainable food and farming
- Flexibility in scheduling, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays
- A diligent approach to safety and sanitation. ServSafe (or analogous) certification a plus
- A team player with a willingness to jump in and help with all tasks.
- Ability to roll with the punches of a rapidly growing start-up business
COMPENSATION: Compensation begins at $16/hr. Riverwards Produce provides a 20% discount on all store products. Benefits include health, dental and medical insurance (for full time employees), paid parental leave, Employee Assistance Program, Paid Time Off, and flexible scheduling.
