Job description

We're looking for a bilingual (Spanish-English) part-time kitchen assistant to work closely with the Community Nutrition Educator who manages our teaching kitchen. 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist with ingredient purchasing, class prep, and clean-up; 
  • Manage class registration and member engagement, conducting direct outreach to participants enrolled in classes, maintaining records, and collecting feedback; 
  • Assist instructor during classes; 
  • Support the Community Nutrition Educator with recipe development and testing; 
  • Draft, translate, edit, and finalize recipes for use in classes and complete research to influence recipe development;
  • Complete tasks related to compliance with food safety requirements;
  • Actively contribute to program communications and civic engagement.
Qualifications and Skills:
  • Bilingual (Spanish-English)
  • Careful proofreading skills, with ability to translate recipes and nutrition fact sheets from English to Spanish;
  • Demonstrable experience in community-based settings in public, nonprofit, or civic spheres;
  • Available to work a part-time schedule of 15 to 20 hours per week, primarily weekdays but also occasional weeknight and weekend hours;
  • Enjoys speaking in front of small groups and serving as a classroom interpreter; 
  • Possesses a natural talent for organizing, inspiring, and uplifting others; 
  • Has a keen interest in nutrition, food security, and healthy cooking; 
  • Exhibits a willingness to learn and expand their culinary knowledge;
  • Experience with communications and graphic design, including key software such as Canva, preferred but not required;
  • Capable of thriving in a fast-paced, dynamic environment;
  • Remains grounded by empathy and compassion, with a strong sense of community.

Compensation

this position is: hourly, $20/hr +
