The Alna store is a highly recognized and celebrated restaurant and market off the beaten path in MidCoast Maine. We work with many incredible local farms, fisherman and artisans to serve beautiful, innovative, farm driven food with warm hospitality.

We currently offer dinner service 3 nights a week Thurs - Sat, and serve brunch 3 days a week Fri - Sun in a remodeled and revamped general store, serving 400-600 covers weekly.


Like our sister restaurant in Tucson, AZ, we challenge the idea that profitability in the service industry necessitates the exploitation of labor, resources, and agriculture.

Job description

The Alna Store is hiring a warm, welcoming, thoughtful + thorough lead server.
Ideal candidate:
  • has fine dining experience but craves a more community oriented, casual environment
  • is knowledgeable about or interested in sustainable food systems, local farms, and culinary technique
  • has knowledge of natural wine, spirits, local beer
  • has a desire to work as a team, help uplift others and work hard alongside their coworkers.
  • Is extremely reliable, punctual, and responsible.
This position involves:
  • Serving 3-6 (4 hour) services per week, emphasis on evening service, help with weekend brunch as needed (shifts are 5-6 hours)
  • Ensuring all side work, deep cleans, daily tasks are completed by FOH team
  • Training and coaching new seasonal FOH employees, and throughout the year as needed (menu trainings, steps of service, side work, deep cleans)
  • Assisting with restock of merchandise and facing of market
  • Working alongside ownership and bar management  to facilitate FOH trainings on wines, spirits, seasonal cocktails 
  • Command of reservation system, ability and willingness to host/ help to manage reservations, update system seasonally, release dates.
  • Ability to give and receive feedback in a high volume and fast paced setting. Strong professional communication skills are a must.
  • Comfort with cash handling; counting drawers, closing day, and being a key holder.
  • Willingness to help others close up shop if someone is struggling or overwhelmed.
This is a pooled house. Tips are distributed amongst all employees involved in the execution of service, ensuring a more equitable environment in which folks work as a team to run service. Average wage including tips is $52-$70/hourly.

Compensation
