Job description
Who We’re Looking ForLOS TACOS No. 1 is seeking an experienced, forward-thinking, and skilled Head of Human Resources (HHR) to oversee the strategy and implementation of policies relating to our most important asset—our employees. The HHR will partner with the leadership team to ensure that the Human Resource functions support Los Tacos’ objectives and create a supportive, rewarding, and engaged workplace that positions the company for growth. The ideal candidate is a hands-on HR generalist with significant prior experience in the F&B and hospitality industry, outstanding ability to represent and embody the restaurant’s brand, strong cultural sensitivity for the Los Tacos staff, and a dedication to continual improvement of the company’s HR practices. This is an on-site position based at Los Tacos’ company headquarters in Manhattan as well as in the group’s restaurant locations, and it will report to Director of Finance and Chief Operating Officer.
Responsibilities
- Partner with leadership team to address current and future Human Resources needs in meeting the company’s strategic objectives
- Work closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention
- Provide HR policy guidance and interpretation to managers to support them in their daily responsibilities
- Analyze trends and metrics in partnership with the leadership team to develop solutions, programs and policies
- Manage and resolve complex employee relations issues and conduct thorough and objective investigations as necessary
- Maintain in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks, ensuring regulatory compliance, and partnering with external resources and counsel as needed or required
- Maintain impeccable records for all employees, programs, actions, benefits, and compensation
- Leverage best-in-class technology to support the Human Resources function
- Collaborate closely with the training and development team to build training processes and evaluate outcomes
- Provide day-to-day performance management guidance to line management
- Maintain employee benefits programs by studying and assessing benefit needs and trends, recommending benefit programs to management, directing the processing of benefit claims, and designing and conducting educational programs on benefits programs.
- Provide guidance, leadership and input on workforce planning and labor utilization
- Drive company-wide programs in the areas of talent acquisition, performance management, compensation, service values, and recognition
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years’ experience as an HR professional at the management level, in organizations with an increasing scope of responsibility
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience as an HR professional within the food and beverage, restaurant, and/or hospitality sector
- Strong functional proficiency in Spanish and able to have conversations with employees exclusively in Spanish
- Preference for candidates with degree in Human Resources or related field
- Preference for candidates with PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certifications
- Outstanding partnership, listening and negotiation skills with strong ability to build relationships at all levels of the organization
- Excellent communication, presentation, time management and facilitation skills
- Experienced in leading organizational change, DEI initiatives, and other workforce development programs
- Experienced in recruiting, evaluating, onboarding and retaining staff
- Experience in developing and managing external human resource partners and interfacing with legal counsel
- Strong proficiency in all aspects of Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant, contemporary digital platforms
This position will have a total annual compensation in the range of $140-160K. In addition, this position will be eligible for the following benefits:
