Seven Stars Farm is a Biodynamic/Organic farm and has been for 35 years.  Our farm is situated on 480 acres of preserved land, surrounded by another 1,000 acres of preserved land.  It is a beautiful and amazing place to work.  We have our own herd of Jersey cows that provide milk for our yogurt, cream, butter and bottled milk.   We have a processing plant and farm store on the property and give tours to High Schools, Universities, 4-H Clubs, and other interested groups.

We are currently looking for passionate and hardworking individuals to help us accomplish this.

 

Job Overview: We are seeking a motivated Dairy Farm Worker/Farm Hand to assist in various farm operations. This role is essential to the daily functioning of our dairy farm and involves a range of tasks related to animal care, milking, and general farm maintenance. On-farm housing may be available for full-time employees.

 

Key Responsibilities:  Fun Times!

• Milking: Perform early morning and/or afternoon milking duties, ensuring the proper handling and care of cows during the process.
• Animal Care: Move and handle cows of all ages, ensuring their well-being and health. This includes learning and applying cow health care practices and feeding routines.
• Barn Chores: Conduct daily barn chores, including cleaning stalls, replenishing bedding, and maintaining a clean and safe environment for the animals.
• Grazing Management: Move cows to fresh pastures every morning and night, following our rotational grazing practices to promote sustainable land use.
• General Farm Maintenance: Assist with basic mechanical tasks and repairs as needed to maintain the farm’s equipment and infrastructure.
• Weather Adaptability: Work in various weather conditions, ensuring that all tasks are completed regardless of environmental challenges.

 

Qualifications:

• Experience: Previous experience in farming and agriculture is preferred. Experience with milking is a plus, but we are willing to train the right candidate.
• Animal Handling: Demonstrated ability to handle and care for animals with patience and respect.
• Mechanical Skills: Basic mechanical knowledge to assist with minor repairs and maintenance tasks.
• Work Ethic: Strong willingness to work hard and adapt to different weather conditions and work schedules.

Compensation
