Job Summary: Culture media is seeking a remote Social Media Manager. In this role, you will assist in the creation, editing, and publication of digital and print content. You will work closely with the Executive Content Director to ensure our online platforms deliver engaging and high-quality content to our audience. If you have a passion for cheese and digital media and have excellent writing skills and a keen eye for detail, this position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to Culture's online presence and growth.
Responsibilities:
- Social Media Management (40%): Responsible for culture’s social media calendar. Curate a mix of original content, repurposed content, and paid placements, all with the goal of engaging and growing culture’s social media audience.
- Newsletters (30%): Curate and send culture’s weekly trade and consumer facing newsletters.
- Writing (20%): Write one story per week to run on culture’s website, and contribute to the quarterly print magazine.
- Digital Publishing (10%): Prepare and upload content to various digital platforms, including websites and social media channels, ensuring proper formatting, optimization, and timely publication.
- Stay Updated: Keep abreast of industry trends (specifically specialty food and cheese), digital best practices, and emerging technologies to contribute fresh ideas and innovative approaches to content creation and distribution.
- Analytics and Reporting: Monitor traffic, engagement metrics, and social media analytics using analytics tools to provide insights and recommendations for content optimization and audience growth.
- Quality Control: Perform regular quality checks to identify and rectify any issues with content formatting, broken links, or technical errors, ensuring a seamless user experience.
Qualifications:
- 3 years experience in journalism, social media, communications, or a related field.
- Proven experience in digital content creation, editing, and publishing, preferably in an editorial or media environment.
- Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with a strong command of grammar, style, and AP Style guidelines.
- Familiarity with content management systems (CMS) and basic HTML/CSS knowledge.
- Understanding of SEO principles and best practices for content optimization.
- Proficiency in social media platforms and their usage for content distribution.
- This is a remote position: candidates need to have good organizational and time management skills to meet deadlines. Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently with minimal supervision is necessary.
- Knowledge of current trends in digital media, social media, and online publishing.
- Applicants with cheese industry knowledge are preferred. You do not need to be a cheese expert to succeed in this position, but you must LOVE cheese.
