Founded in 2009 by artist Linda Goode Bryant, Project EATS (PE) is a living installation of art, food, and human ties.
MISSION
To create networks of community-based food systems in urban communities that have limited or no access to fresh nutritious food. PE food systems grow, harvest, package, process, transport, market, and work to increase the consumption of food that nourishes people in the neighborhoods and housing communities where they live.
VISION
Every neighborhood and community develop and sustainably operate food systems where they live and that these systems are key to the ability of residents to transform their communities into vital hubs of production, distribution, creativity, innovation, and wellbeing where they live healthy lives and thrive.
GOAL
PE is a catalyst, inspiration, and support of people using whatever resources they have to create the conditions they need to have healthy lives, well-being and thrive in their communities regardless of their level of income or financial wealth.

ABOUT THE ROLE
The Our Well Being Manager (OWBM) is responsible for the successful execution and management of all community (Our Well Being) programs, relationships, and the development and expansion of our programs and reach.
Reporting to the CEO, they manage and develop the Community team to execute activities designed to engage and build ongoing relationships with youth, families, and adults in the following communities: Brownsville (Brooklyn), Belmont (Bronx), Essex (Lower East Side), and East Harlem (Manhattan).
The OWBM’s goal is to increase resident, community partner, and community stakeholder involvement, appreciation, and support for community-based agriculture, plant-based meals, and increased consumption of fresh, nutritious food. They actively develop strong ties with neighbors and other community stakeholders.
KEY DUTIES + RESPONSIBILITIES
PROGRAM STRATEGY, OVERSIGHT + MANAGEMENT
- Manage all PE community program activities, ensuring the program achieves its quantitative and qualitative annual goals and impact to reach 100% compliance (as measured by commitments made to donors and partners) for all programs
○ Currently we provide the following free programs: Culinary after school, community culinary workshops (cooking without recipes), pantry, fall festivals and a youth summer farm internship program (workforce development)
- Work closely with our founder and CEO to translate their vision for community engagement and participation in PE’s mission into mission-driven programming that uses our strengths and resources to create visible positive impact
- Increase resident awareness of and engagement in Project EATS through effective, creative, engaged interaction and communication
- Become an attuned partner in our communities ensuring our programs and events are aligned, intentional, and with an understanding of our communities dynamics
STAFF DEVELOPMENT + MANAGEMENT
- Hire, train, and develop program staff and volunteers in executing our programs
- Ensure compliance with program and PE Standards
- Provide engaged management, support, and effective, clear feedback,
- Evaluate performance of programs and staff regularly with a focus on ongoing personal/professional team development
FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT
- Strict adherence to quarterly and annual program budgets and plan, with the goal of reaching goals and striving to reach stretch goals
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
- 3+ years experience in leading + managing programs or projects + working within communities
- Experience working with various stakeholders and partners
- Excitement and affinity for relationship building
- Experience working towards KPIs and other program metrics
- Sound judgment and integrity. Skilled problem solver
- Ability to effectively manage a team
o Comfortable working with and teaching others, setting clear expectations
Ability to delegate responsibilities and hold others accountable
- Self-motivated + disciplined with a bias towards action
- Passion for continuous learning
