Youth at Sprouts are paired with a chef mentor and wraparound program to develop the vocational skills needed to secure and maintain a culinary job. Graduates use these entry-level jobs to kickstart culinary careers, pay for education, or pursue new industries.
Job description
Sprouts Chef Training is seeking an experienced event professional to help execute our Michelin Star Chef fall fundraiser, featuring bars and chefs from Lord Stanley, Rich Table, Foreign Cinema, and many others. This position requires strong communication with chefs and vendors, organizing rental orders and logistics, coordinating in-kind ingredient donations, leading a team of volunteers, and helping finalize and execute a tight event timeline. You will work alongside Sprouts full-time, remote event planner, marketing lead, development director, two interns, and a team of inspired volunteers.
Sample Tasks:
- Co-lead and execute Better Together fundraising event, a 150 person fundraiser featuring six restaurant partners and six bar and winery partners to be held on September 29
- Coordinate remotely the execution of each event in SF, including a team of up to 25 volunteers who will be onsite
- Communicate with a diverse range of vendors such as AV equipment, flatware/glassware rentals, farmers and purveyors, and wine distributors
- Coordinate with chef and bar partners to organize menus, ingredient requests, and onsite event logistics
- Work alongside Sprouts general event planner, who will be remote until the week of the event
- Collaborate with Sprouts Marketing Team and Development Team to promote partnerships, sponsors, and event talent
- Work with Sprouts’ Event Manager to recruit and onboard volunteers
- Collaborate with the OpenTable team to promote the event, update the ticketing platform, and sell tickets
- Finalize all pre-and-post event details, including printed materials, run of show timeline, chef menus, guest invites, and thank you messages to partners
Skills and Requirements:
- Genuine excitement and personal alignment with Sprouts Chef Training mission and theory of change
- Ability to thrive in a remote/virtual work environment
- Experience leading event organization and onsite execution with a team
- Assertive, proactive approach to communication
- Familiarity with various online platforms, such as Google Sheets, MailChimp, Google Analytics, Canva, etc.
- Extremely well-organized and detail-oriented
- Exceptional communication and writing skills
- Able to make and meet strict timelines

Locations and Hours:
10-30 hours per week, remote, schedule determined by applicant
If not located in San Francisco, Event Lead will need to travel to attend and execute the Better Together event in-person. Sprouts will provide a stipend to cover airfare and lodging.

Compensation:
$40/ hour, contracted position
Chef Training Program Overview:
We equip Bay Area youth to rise from hardship through culinary training and job placement. Youth pair with chef mentors and case managers to develop the skills needed to secure and maintain culinary jobs. Since 2012, dozens of youth have used their skills to get off the streets, pay for higher education, become chefs, access new professions, or support family members.
