Job description

As we grow our pastry program, we are looking for individuals that align with our core values of hospitality, empowerment, simplicity, sustainability and community.

The ideal candidate is creative, diligent, and has the highest standard of what makes a delicious pastry or baked good. The pastry program includes production for breakfast, plated desserts for dinner, and also prepares for events and farmers markets. Two years in a professional kitchen is preferred, but we are willing to train the right candidate. Must be available weekends.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare a range of pastry items required for breakfast, dinner, events, and farmers markets
  • Maintain awareness of and knowledge of pastry arts and ingredients. Assist the pastry chef in following recipes, weighing ingredients and knowing proper mixing for cakes and doughs.
  • Monitor stock and par levels of raw ingredients and prepped items
  • Maintain a clean and orderly kitchen stations and adhere to health and safety standards

ABOUT YOU

  • Strong organization and time management skills. Can multitask while maintaining strict attention to detail.
  • Proven experience working in a fast-paced kitchen environment
  • Able to follow recipes and instructions accurately
  • Basic knowledge of the following pastry skills: Dough lamination, cake decorating, sourdough, and proofing dough.
  • Punctual and disciplined to ensure optimal work performance
  • In-depth knowledge of sanitation principles, food prep, baking techniques and nutrition
  • Working knowledge of baking with ingredient limitations (gluten free, vegan, sugarless, etc.)
  • Dedicated to cultivating customer excellence and a hospitality-driven culture
  • Collaborates effectively in a team environment and is willing to pitch in no matter the task; believes we are most likely to succeed when we work together as a team.

Compensation

this position is: hourly, $15-20/hr
