Job description

The Tavern at Rivertown Lodge is seeking an energetic, enthusiastic Chef de Cuisine with a passion for food, a strong work ethic and ability to work in a team focused environment.
 

Our Executive Chef Efrén Hernández was recently nominated for a 2024 James Beard Award for Best Chef: New York State and received the 2024 Rising Star Chef from Esquire Magazine. This is a great opportunity for a chef looking to take the next step in their career under a great management team that values mentorship. Our eclectic menu changes with the seasons with locally sourced ingredients from the many neighboring farms here in the Hudson Valley. We make our pastas, bread and ferments in-house, giving everyone the opportunity to learn and/or hone different culinary techniques.
 

Our ideal candidate is either already a head chef or a sous chef ready to take the next step. You will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the restaurant and will work closely with chef Efrén on menu development, team and labor management, food cost management, etc.
 

Tasks you should be comfortable with:

  • Team management in a calm and professional manner.
  • Prepping and working a station on the line.
  • Cooking a station while expediting the line.
  • Ordering and inventory.
  • Menu development and creative output.
  • Quality control and standard setting/enforcing.
  • Maintaining cleanliness and organization of the kitchen spaces.
 

Average work-weeks are around 55 hours. Salary is 75k with health care benefits after 3 months and 2 weeks paid vacation after 6 months.

Compensation
