Job description

CFET is looking for applicants to develop our youth garden education program.  The program is primarily run out of our ~7,000 sq. ft. garden and greenhouse, located in the Waterfront South neighborhood of Camden.  The garden features an outdoor pavilion, long outdoor tables and benches, and growing space in our clean, tested soil.  We also have access to an outdoor pizza/bread oven, and beehives located a few blocks away.  The garden coordinator will help to develop an outdoor learning curriculum appropriate for K-8 age groups.  During July and August, you will work with student groups from nearby summer camps.  During September - November you will work with classes from Sacred Heart School several times a week.

 

Qualifications

Experience with farming or gardening, nutrition education, as well as experience working with children of many ages.  Ability to work independently without supervision.  

 

Responsibilities

  • Develop an age appropriate garden education curriculum for K-8 students with themes including nutrition, science, arts and crafts, and basic gardening skills.
  • Grow and maintain a neat and attractive garden with a variety of vegetables and flowers.
  • Manage groups of up to ~20 children (with supervisory assistance from school teachers/chaperones) for ~60 minute learning sessions, three to four times a week.
 

Compensation

This is a part time, seasonal position @ $22/hr.  Up to 30 hrs/wk July and August, and 15 hrs/wk Sep-Nov (ending at Thanksgiving).
