Myers Produce is a woman-owned regional distributor and trucking company operating out of hubs in Western Massachusetts and Northern Vermont. We offer distribution, freight, and warehousing services to farmers and producers throughout our region. We source from within the Northeast as a rule, and the majority of our sources are certified organic. We carry fresh produce, fresh fruit, eggs, meat, cheese, grains, flowers, and added value products. Our customers are predominantly independent retail stores and restaurants in New York City, the Greater Boston Area, the Cape, and the Hudson Valley.
Job description
We are currently hiring for a Part- Time position as a member of our Operations Team, based in Hatfield, Massachusetts. This position includes responsibilities on our delivery routes and in our warehouse.
Our delivery routes involve driving a 26-ft box truck, 16-ft box truck, or transit van from our warehouse in Hatfield to destinations in NYC, Boston, and Vermont. Our warehouse shifts include working with a crew of 3-4 people to label and palletize boxes for trucks headed out on delivery that same day and the following day. Below is a brief list of expected responsibilities for the Operations Coordinator.
WAREHOUSE
- Maintain momentum with the Warehouse Crew whenever Operations Managers are occupied
- Understand and Complete Inventory Checks
- Double-check orders
- Work with Operations Managers to think about improvements to Warehouse Flow
- Accurately label and palletize product throughout Warehouse shifts
- Participate in the maintenance of Warehouse Cleanliness
DRIVER
- Safely and Responsibly Operate Myers Vehicles
- Maintain Vehicle Cleanliness
- Properly Handle Product on Route
- Complete all Deliveries and Pick-Ups on Outlined Route
- Accurately Review Invoiced Items at each Location
- Assist with Logistical Problem-Solving in the Field
- Report Farmer/Customer Feedback to Management
- Report Vehicle Issues to Management
- Perform Pre and Post trip vehicle inspections
- Uphold DOT Safety regulations
- Deliver Vehicles to Ryder maintenance locations
This position includes a total of approximately 25-32 hours per week. The expected schedule for the Operations Coordinator is:
- Monday
- Tuesday
- Wednesday (Warehouse shift half day)
- Thursday
- Saturday (Warehouse shift half day)
The ideal candidate for this position:
- Has experience driving an 16-ft (or larger) box truck in urban areas (or has experience driving slightly smaller trucks and is willing to be trained!)
- Is observant, has excellent attention to detail
- Adapts well to the changes and surprises that are inevitable in our line of work
- Enjoys problem-solving
- Proficient communicator
- Understands how critical their role is to Myers Produce
- Likes physical work, is able to lift 40-50 lb boxes
- Is interested in our mission
- Has a smartphone
Compensation
this position is: hourly, $20/hr +
