We are a farm-to-fork food manufacturer specializing in the growing and processing of teff, an ancient grain best known as the primary ingredient of injera, the staple in Ethiopian and Eritrean cuisine. Our primary customer base includes store owners and restauranteurs supplying injera or teff for purposes of making injera, and we are continuing to explore different applications for this tasty, nutritious, and versatile ancient grain. You’ll be joining a family-owned company working to deliver high quality teff and teff-based products to consumers and manufacturers in the United States.
Job description
Position Summary: The Marketing Manager is a full-time position responsible for managing The Teff Company’s marketing initiatives, including publicizing teff grain and flour to existing and new markets. You’ll also be responsible for developing and maintaining the brand and marketing content with various stakeholders and collaborating with Sales and other stakeholders across the company.
Who You Are: You understand the natural foods industry landscape, including gluten-free and/or ancient grain products. You are proactive, creative, organized, detail-oriented, an effective communicator, and passionate about good food.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develops, implements and achieves strategic marketing plans in collaboration with Sales to drive revenue and teff awareness growth aligned with company values and strategic objectives
- Collects and analyzes sales, forecast and third-party data to monitor trends and identify potential emerging markets, market shifts, and opportunities
- Develops, implements and measures efficacy of a digital marketing strategy, including SEO, website and social media
- Leverages understanding of teff’s attributes, its value propositions and input from Sales and customers to assess and provide marketing content and communication needs
- Researches and recommends product positioning, packaging, and pricing strategy to optimize profitability and long-term market share
- Assesses the efficacy of marketing campaigns and strategies
- Stays informed of market trends and developments, recommends new products and services
- Plans and attends industry trade shows and other events
- Manages third parties employed for marketing content and teff recipe development
- Other related duties, as agreed
Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree with business administration, marketing or related field preferred or related experience
- Tech proficiency; Experience with an ERP/CRM system, a plus
- Experience in food industry preferred, with emphasis in natural Consumer Packaged Goods
- Proven track record of managing high performance / effective team
- Self-motivated, curious and shows initiative
- Excellent time management skills with proven ability to meet deadlines
- Effective communicator that may include public speaking experience
- Entrepreneurial mindset, creative problem solving and analytical skills
- Thorough understanding of principles and methods used to promote, display, and sell products and services
- Strong familiarity with Google Analytics & Google Ads
- Strong familiarity with common social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, X, TikTok, etc.)
