Objectives
The Mobile Market Coordinator (MMC) will work with the Director of Food Access to coordinate all aspects of our Mobile Market Program - from farm to fork - in order to support the organization's mission to provide equitable access to affordable and nutritious foods for all. The MMC will foster an inclusive and welcoming environment for our market customers while maintaining safe and efficient market operations. The MMC will function as a core member of the Project GROWS team, exemplifying an ethic of community, teamwork, personal responsibility, and creative problem-solving in pursuit of the organization’s mission.
Through this position, the Mobile Market Coordinator will:
- Gain the skills and knowledge involved in operating a community-based mobile farmers market
- Develop an understanding of existing federal, state, and local nutrition incentive and benefit programs and how they can be leveraged to support equitable food access
- Develop confidence and leadership skills
- Gain experience working with, facilitating, and teaching others in a community setting
- Support the development of partnership-based programs and initiatives to contribute to a more equitable and just food system
Essential Functions
The Mobile Market Coordinator (MMC) will work in partnership with the Director of Food Access to coordinate the mobile farmers market program. Job activities will include setting up and driving the GROW Mobile to multiple sites across the week, engaging with market customers and conducting sales, preparing weekly recipes and food samples, maintaining financial records, and coordinating various community-based outreach. Additionally, the MMC will work closely with the PG farm team by participating in weekly harvest days, tracking and communicating inventory needs, and maintaining safe and proper food storage. With such an outward facing role, It is essential that the MMC is comfortable socializing for long periods of time and eager to engage with diverse groups of people.
While the focus of this position is the mobile market, other job activities may include:
- Hands-on youth education (field trips, summer camps, in-school lessons, youth leadership program)
- Community outreach and special events
- Staffing our Saturday farmers market and weekly farm stand
- Volunteer coordination
- Local retail deliveries and pickups
- Administrative tasks as needed (record keeping, reporting, planning)

- Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to communicate effectively with customers, staff, volunteers, and youth
- Strong organizational skills and ability to balance complex schedules and tasks within a dynamic environment
- Strong work ethic and self-motivated when working independently as well as in a group setting
- Willingness to learn, ask questions, and follow directions
- Comfortable accepting and receiving feedback
- Commitment to creating and improving systems
- Comfortable working outside during hot, cold, and inclement weather
- Ability to work evenings, weekdays, and occasional Saturdays
- Ability to lift 50+ regularly
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working or volunteering in community-based settings with diverse groups of people across racial, ethnic, generational, socioeconomic, rural/urban, and religious lines
- Customer service experience
- Experience working with, coordinating, or managing volunteers
- Experience working with youth
*While experience working for a farmers market or mobile market is helpful, a willingness to work hard, try new things, and improvise is most important! We encourage candidates with limited experience to still apply.
Other Requirements
- Following sufficient training, this position will require driving large vehicles, including a box truck
- Because our farm is located in an area without access to reliable public transportation, we recommend that applicants with access to a vehicle apply. In addition, a valid driver’s license is required to fulfill job duties as is a clean driving record, for insurance purposes.
- Because we routinely work with children, background checks are required for final applicants

- Along with all other members of the PG team, the Mobile Market Coordinator will occasionally be required to work weekend and evening hours
Compensation
This is a full-time, 40 hour per week, non-exempt position. We are looking for a candidate who can make a seasonal commitment from March-November, with the potential to become year-round depending on employee and organizational fit. Pay is $18-$19 per hour, depending on experience. Benefits include paid time off, paid holidays, a share of farm produce, professional development, and the opportunity to work with an engaged and supportive team.
Compensation
this position is: hourly, $15-20/hr
