Adamah Farm is an organic farm, fellowship program, and Jewish community located at the Isabella Freedman Jewish Retreat Center in Falls Village, CT. We are a program of Adamah, a national nonprofit furthering vibrant Jewish life in deep connection with the earth.
Our primary business is organic vegetable production but our diversified, regenerative farm also includes rows of vegetables, agroforestry, pasture, compost production, and a mix of perennials. Apprentices help facilitate all aspects of our production and educational programs.
- Guests at Isabella Freedman Jewish Retreat Center get to eat our fresh produce, tour the fields, and meet the animals
- Fellows in the Adamah Farm Fellowship build community among the seedlings, fruit trees, chicken flock, and even the weeds.
- Members of the Farm CSA in Northwest Connecticut enjoy a fresh share of the harvest from June through November
- The Food Access Fund allows us to grow fresh produce for those experiencing food insecurity.
Internship description
Adamah apprenticeships are full-time, professional, paid positions that require commitment, responsibility and leadership over the term of employment. The apprenticeship runs May-November, with potential for flexible start and end dates.
Responsibilities:
- The apprentice's primary role will be to lead Adamah fellows in vegetable farming tasks including planting, harvesting, bed-prep, and weeding.
- Apprentices will also support our homestead scale goat dairy, the post-harvest handling of vegetables and other Adamah farm endeavors.
- The apprentice will participate in Adamah programming when in session such as leading avodat lev and attending Adamah sharing circles.
- Apprentices will support hospitality departments at Isabella Freedman Jewish Retreat Center when needed.
- Apprentices will occasionally take our products to market, deliver vegetables to CSA sites and food pantries, or lead educational programming for retreat guests.
Compensation
