SlackTide Coffee Roasters is a small business located on the South Shore of Massachusetts. We have two locations in Marshfield and Hanover where we serve fresh, homemade ingredients for breakfast and lunch. We also have a commissary kitchen and roasters where we roast all of our coffee and bake donuts, biscuits, bread and other homemade baked goods.

Job description

Job Summary: Bakers at SlackTide Coffee Roasters are expected to gain a thorough and complete knowledge of the SlackTide philosophy and menu. They will work in our commissary kitchen space to help produce our full line of scratch made bakery products. Bakers are expected to have a strong work ethic and a desire to work well within a team format and focus on quality products. 

 

Duties/Responsibilities: 

• Train and advance skills in dough preparation, proofing, frying, and finishing donuts
• Work to produce other SlackTide Café products including syrups, cream cheeses, hummus and weekend special ingredients
• Follow product guidelines and timelines effectively
• Adhere to all food safety regulations and quality controls 
• Clean and sanitize areas 
• Communicate effectively with team members on shift 
• Follow scheduling protocols and use proper communication with Bakery team and Managers off shift when necessary
• Maintain consistency across products 
• Follow company guidelines and Handbook
• Strive to continue to grow baking skills
• Perform other related duties as assigned 

 

Required Skills/Abilities: 

• Willingness to continue learning about food and baking preparation
• Exceptional listening and communication skills
• Good memory to manage multiple tasks simultaneously 

 

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to move up to 50 pounds at times 
• Ability to move about the bakery to access different areas/stations; must be able to remain in a stationary position often (i.e., standing, sitting, bending, etc.) and for a standard shift length of 4 hours in duration
• Availability to work around peak hours, including early mornings, weekends, and holidays when applicable

 

Specific Focus Areas:

1. Learn all specific roles within the bakery. This includes dough preparation, donut frying, donut finishing, bread duties, and other product timelines and development
2. Work directly with management to provide constructive feedback
3. Work effectively with SlackTide team members with a positive attitude to foster a strong workplace culture
4. Fulfill tasks efficiently while adhering to all product specifications with a focus on quality

 

The Bakery position is the starting role at the SlackTide bakery. Bakers are expected to be focused on tasking to the best of their abilities. Bakers can look to management for leadership or guidance during shifts.

Compensation
