Company description

Outstanding in the Field is a roving culinary adventure - literally a restaurant without walls. Our mission is to re-connect diners to the land and the origins of their food, and to honor the local farmers and food artisans who cultivate it. Since 1999 we have set a long, fine-dining table at farms, vineyards, city streets, docks, piers and beaches across the country. Outstanding in the Field events feature a five course, family-style dinner, paired with wine at our long table set in a scenic spot. Diners are joined at the table by the farmer, food producers, a winemaker and other local artisans associated with the meal. Job description

*IMPORTANT: This job is not remote - we work seasonally all over the US and encourage folks who are willing to travel to reach out.

As we near the end of our 2023 Tour, we have fewer opportunities available to work. We encourage you to apply if you are interested in working with us for our upcoming 2024 Winter or Summer tours.

We're seeking hardworking, hospitality-minded service team members with a passion for human connection and a sense of adventure. We are hiring part time front of house and production crew members (our guest chef will staff the back of house) to travel along with us this season and work our events across the US. Our schedule is available on our website.

As a member of our crew, you'll get to experience a wealth of sustainable farms, hidden orchards, vast ranches, and other epic spots while supporting our entire team in executing events and serving the long table.

Our events typically involve a 12 hour day, including set up, dinner service, and break down. Staff members must be able to lift at least 50 lbs. Exposure to the elements and walking on uneven surfaces should be expected. The job requires all staff to work outside and be on your feet for 8+ hours in a row. Our events are rain or shine. Staff members will be working outdoors for the entirety of the event. There is plenty of manual labor involved in set-up and break-down of events; please consider this before applying. Please note that we do not cover travel expenses for lodging for this position.

Applicants should have event/restaurant experience. Those who work on farms, in landscaping/construction, and outdoor sports/activities are also encouraged to apply. This job requires following direction well from the front of house manager of the event.

You can find pictures of our past events, our full schedule, and more information about Outstanding In The Field at www.outstandinginthefield.com.

We are looking for people that enjoy being outdoors, are excited about good food, work well with others, and are willing to travel. Our part time staff is responsible for traveling to each event they choose to sign up for, and is welcome to sign up for as many events as they desire. OITF does not cover travel costs for our part time staff.

Pay: Starting pay is $20/hr for the first 8 hours of the day, with time and a half after 8 hours and double time after 12 hours. A typical event day should not go past 12 hours.

Additionally, being authorized to work in the U.S. is a precondition of employment. We do not sponsor work visas (of any kind ) for this position at this time.
