Bedford Cheese Shop is a small, independently run specialty cheese shop dedicated to the time-honored traditions of the culinary and agricultural world.  Established in 2003, Bedford Cheese Shop works directly with producers to select an extensive array of cheeses.  Our staff of knowledgeable cheesemongers work with customers to find cheese to fit their needs, as well as to help customers explore new varieties.  We also offer a wide range of charcuterie and specialty grocery items, catering, prepared foods and the Homestead (a private classroom and event space).  Bedford Cheese Shop is located at 67 Irving Place in Manhattan.

Job Details

Bedford Cheese Shop is looking for experienced BOH candidates to be able to work in the kitchen standing for 8 hour shifts.  Our hours of operations are 7AM to 7PM.

 

We seek an English and Spanish speaking Sandwich/Prep-Cook/Dishwasher/Kitchen Support to join our team! Most of our day to day tasks include making deli sandwiches and burritos, prep of soups, dips, sauces and more for retail. As well as maintaining the cleanliness of the kitchen every day.

Ideal candidates will have:

• A minimum of one year of experience working as a line cook/prep cook/grill in a fast-paced environment. 
• Must be flexible with the ability to pivot between tasks as needed and work efficiently to complete all tasks.

• Experience in all meal preparation.

• A strong work ethic and passion for food.

• Must be able to lift 40 pounds or more.

• Must be able to work standing for 8+ hour shifts.

• Respect for our shop, its equipment, and fellow staff members.

• Follow all best practices as put forth by the DOA and shop.

• Must be able to work on weekends & holidays.

• Fully Covid Vaccinated and boosted.

• Compensation is based on experience.

Duties:

• Work in the kitchen making pre-established recipes.

• Keep a clean and organized work environment. This includes a daily cleaning of the kitchen.

• Make sure the station is appropriately stocked for shifts.

• Maintain all necessary parts.

• Follow prep sheets, fire sheets, station sheets.

• Prep and execution of food items.

• Abide by and uphold shop policies, standards, and state sanitation/health regulations.

• Ensure and maintain safe and secure working conditions/environment, and ensure the cleanliness and sanitation of the kitchen facilities and equipment.
