Company description

Willoughby General is a woman-owned General Store and community space in Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn that focuses on local, sustainable and BIPOC owned brands. We have a pantry provisions section with familiar brands like Fly By Jing and Graza, as well as eco conscious home goods, local artists works, and apothecary items. We have a to-go food program with a strong breakfast crowd but are looking to grow in our lunch and dinner business, with the help of you! We are open 8am-6pm but will soon be extending to 8am-8pm. As a community space we also host pop-ups, sustainability events, food tastings, crafting classes, recycling events and more! Sometimes during store hours, sometimes after hours. Job description

Must be open to a fast-paced environment with the ability to multitask, while giving our customers a meaningful experience. Often there is just one person working so you will need to balance checking out a customer, food prep, keeping clean and setting yourself up for success. 
Our kitchen is small and customer facing so its imperative we practice safe food handling. Culinary training is preferred as we make all food on premise, with the exception of a daily delivery of pastries. You must also be comfortable inputting inventory quantities when deliveries come and doing basic logistical tasks. This is a great opportunity to make community and learn the ins & outs of a small business. 

Our ideal candidate would be an outgoing and resourceful person who brings ideas and plans for execution to the table. Someone with both BOH and FOH experience, who can creatively and actively assist in food prep, inventory, light social media engagement (under our account) and good customer service. 20-40 hours a week, including weekends. Hourly rate plus credit card and cash tips. Shifts are 7am-2pm, 10am-3pm, 1:30pm-8:30pm. 

We have an established menu of prepared foods but would love to expand on our menu with fresh ideas. Simple but creative foods with that extra little touch. Our set up is small: induction burner, over, warmer, croc pot and drip coffee (no espresso)

Compensation

this position is: hourly, $15-20/hr
