Friends of the High Line (FHL) is the NYC Department of Parks & Recreation’s non-profit partner working to ensure the park on the High Line is maintained as a great public place for all New Yorkers and visitors to enjoy. In addition to overseeing the maintenance, operations, and public programming for the High Line, FHL is currently working to raise the essential private funding to help complete the High Line’s construction and create an endowment for its future operations.

As the High Line continues to expand, food concessions will generate much-needed revenue in support of maintenance and operations. Reporting to the Director of High Line Food & Revenue, the Coordinator will play a key role in the day-to-day management of food partners operating on the High Line, assist with the continued expansion of the High Line’s food program, and support the coordination of the planned restaurant at the southern terminus of the High Line, scheduled to open in 2014. This position is currently a part-time (~30hours/week) position, with the possibility of expanding to full-time (35+ hours/week) in 2013.

Primary Tasks Include

· Acting as the primary point person for day-to-day operational questions regarding food sales, vendor set-up, and vendor/visitor relations;
· Coordinating with High Line Maintenance & Operations staff to prepare and maintain vendor sites; 
· Liaising with the NYC Department of Parks & Recreation and the NYC Department of Health; 
· Tracking vendor income, billing, and revenue reports; 
· Liaising with High Line visitors regarding food-related questions or comments; 
· Coordinating food programs, such as Play with your Food and High Line Soup; 
· Expanding and managing food-related marketing initiatives, both print and online; 
· Creating content for marketing materials, including tweets, blog posts, and newsletter stories; 
· Assisting with the planning and preparation for the full-service restaurant currently under construction at the High Line’s southern terminus;
· Providing miscellaneous in-office administrative and logistical support, as needed.

Qualifications

This position requires 2-3 years of experience successfully managing similar projects. Candidates must feel comfortable interfacing with the various stakeholders that will visit the High Line. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent project management skills and organizational abilities. Candidates should be able to work independently, multi-task, solve problems, collaborate with staff at all levels and have excellent customer service skills. Candidates must demonstrate excellent skills in verbal and written communication. Basic computer skills required (Microsoft Word/Excel). Candidates must be willing and able to work nights and weekends.
