Job description

125 acres organic farm in Tuscania, central Italy is seeking head gardener to take care of some 2 acres of mixed vegetable gardens, plus help setting up standards for the years to come in regards to seed saving, seedling starting+transplant. The gardens are mainly producing for self consumption and the support of the community revolving around the farm, so the more species the better, and we're shooting fr production all through the year - lucky us our enviroment and climate allow for that. More infos on the crop+crop rotation, tool and equipement available on request.What we need is both brain and hands - we require a solid background in organic gardening, ecology of farming, but we also need hands at work, so if you're a permaculture geek but you're afraid to get your hands dirty you are not what we need. We're open to new ideas though, and we'll be happy to learn from you in case you know how to do better than what we're doing right now.What we offer is full housing (independent apt on the farm) in one of the best spots of central Italy, the best food coming straight out of the farm (veggies, meat, etc.), plus pocket money to be indipendent while here. Sorry we can't offer a full stipend, but we're trying to stay in business and we have to make the most of the cash we have. The place is great, though, and it could be a one in a lifetime experience, that's guaranteed.2 miles to the town of Tuscania, about 1 and a half hr from Rome. Position open now.
