Job description

Job Description

The Tasting Room Staff provide a high level of customer service and hospitality to our customers, in addition to sharing product knowledge and enthusiasm for Foundry Vineyards wines. Team member duties include maintaining the facility, washing & polishing glassware, operating the POS, restocking, packing orders, answering the phone, and other administrative tasks that arise. The ideal candidate LOVES interacting with all kinds of people and sharing their passion for wine!

We are a boutique, family-run winery with a small but mighty team. We rely on each other to make sure things get done, and we all must be flexible. There is nothing more important to our team than dedication to exceptional customer service, and going the extra mile for co-workers and guests alike.

What you’ll do:

  • Warmly and enthusiastically greet and serve customers, ensuring everyone walks away with an understanding of the Foundry Vineyards story- and feeling the love! We believe wine tasting shouldn’t be intimidating so creating a welcoming atmosphere is vital. We also welcome a steady stream of wine club members, so building long term customer relationships is key!
  • Maintain product knowledge of our wines, including current releases and library wines. Be prepared to have a point of view: our customers often want guidance and recommendations.
  • Complete daily operations including but not limited to: opening and closing duties, cleaning, restocking, data entry, and inventory as needed. Clean, sanitize, and polish all glass and dish wares. If there is time to lean, there is time to clean.
  • Track tasting reservations, and maintain the appointment calendar.
  • Fill in as needed across the shop; we’re all working towards one goal, and it’s not uncommon for Foundry Vineyards staff to help Fruitsuper.

What we’re looking for:

  • Prior retail, restaurant or customer service experience is a plus but not required; for the right people, we’re more than happy to teach.
  • A passion for creating connections with different kinds of people and an affinity for making folks feel right at home.
  • A self-starter mentality with an interest in learning about wine on and off the clock.
  • Eye for detail – you’re observant and understand that the little details make the difference: the warmth of a greeting, the table settings, or the organization of a shelf can all affect how a customer feels about Foundry Vineyards and how well the shop operates.
  • Collaborative spirit and commitment to Foundry Vineyards mission – you’re a team player and willing to lend a hand or elevate those around you. You add your own individuality to an already positive and uplifting work environment. A good sense of humor doesn’t hurt either.
  • Adaptability and flexibility – you recognize that in the service industry, things happen- and you’re able to calmly troubleshoot issues.

Shifts Needed:

  • ~20 hrs/wk to start, with an opportunity to take on more shifts after training, and as we enter busy season
    • Thus 11:30am - 6pm  (close)
    • Fri-Sat 11:30 am - 7pm (close)
    • Flexibility for extended hours due to special events
    • Other dates as needed

Compensation:

  • $18-$20 (DOE) + tips, wine club bonuses
  • Opportunities for additional hours as we move into busy season
  • Additional benefits if the position moves to full time

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds repeatedly.
  • Must be able to effectively stock wine and non-wine merchandise, set-up and break down structures, tables, etc., and be able to utilize a dolly cart and other equipment to assist in moving heavy objects.

Other Requirements:

  • MAST Alcohol Server’s Permit (can be obtained within 60 days of starting job)
  • WA State Food Handler’s Card

Compensation

this position is: hourly, varies DOE, $18.00 - $20.00
