POSITION SUMMARY
Years ago, Lovin’ Spoonfuls launched Plenty, our culinary education program intended to supplement the food provided through our food rescue programming. Through recipe cards, cooking workshops, and other original content, our team worked to ensure end recipients had the resources to prepare rescued ingredients in healthy, low-waste, and low-cost recipes.
In 2020, in response to our renewed commitment to diversity and inclusion, Lovin’ Spoonfuls recognized the need to reimagine this programming through work with community members who have lived experience cooking and living in the cultures of the recipients of our rescued food. Our ultimate goal is to ensure we’re providing culturally relevant recipes which still focus on healthy, low-waste, and low-cost cooking.
Each Bilingual Culinary Educator will work with the Lovin’ Spoonfuls team to brainstorm, generate, refine, and teach original content in English and one of the following languages: Spanish, Portuguese, Mandarin, or Cantonese. (We are seeking 3-4 educators in total, to provide content across these languages.) Each Bilingual Culinary Educator will create recipe cards and other print materials, and lead cooking workshops for our nonprofit partner agencies. Lovin’ Spoonfuls is piloting this new iteration of our Plenty programming in 2021, and each Bilingual Culinary Educator will ideally have a culinary understanding of one of the following cultures: Dominican Republic, Brazil, or China. These three regions represent the highest immigrant populations in Massachusetts and are the focus of our piloted content. Over time, Lovin’ Spoonfuls may expand the program to include Haiti, Vietnam, and other cultures represented by our end users.
